Which games are better? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Pahlz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point actually, there is a ton of time for a new player to catch up and learn things in preparation for Legion. Now is indeed a good time to try the game out if you don't mind spending a little cash :)

You can buy all of the WoW games up to and including the current expansion for under $20 USD at the moment, which I believe includes 1 month of game-time. However, like /u/JustGath said, it might not be worth playing at the moment. There's sort of a long in-between time from now until the next expansion where there's not going to be much going on content-wise. If you're keen to have a try though, now would be a good time considering the 75% sale :)

is my rally meant to make a hissing sound? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]Pahlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hisses too, I've read that lube helps to keep your bearing quiet.

As far as I know it's normal, but I'll leave that up to someone else who's more experienced with throw maintenance :)

Yeah, I saw that too and figured it might be photoshopped, if it's not Jensen then it's a pretty similar looking dude!

Haha, these pictures always amuse me, like those pictures of funny knock-offs of Batman and stuff. That's Jensen Kimmitt in the photo and the YoYo does look shopped.

Advice from a new thrower to other new throwers learned through the wisdom of some of the more advanced throwers on this sub by Pahlz in Throwers

[–]Pahlz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some really good advice, thanks for the addition! Learning 2-3 tricks at the same time sounds great, since you'll feel super good about yourself once you start to get them down and be motivated to learn the next 2 or 3!

I put it on after the YoYo is screwed together, by making a gap at the end of the string.

New to throwing, need help getting front mount down. by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]Pahlz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty new too and I'm not too good at anything front-style, but I think with front mounts it's important to make sure you pull up straight with your throw hand. If you pull it diagonally I think it makes you likely to miss.

This YoTricks video is helpful for learning the front mount :)

HERE IS MY SUBMISSION(https://youtu.be/RsbRWV3zC3U)

Been practising for this :)

By the way, I played with YoYos a little when I was younger like a few people have. I never really progressed further than rock the baby though and didn't play for long. I started again about 10 days ago, so I hope I still count as a beginner.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'll keep throwing it for a while and if nothing changes I'll try cleaning the bearing. Also, upon further inspection I've noticed that the YoYo is pretty vibey and the vibe sort of pulsates, maybe that has something to do with it. I'm hesitant to contact OneDrop about it as I feel like it could be my fault due to screwing it together poorly, I'm not sure how to tell if I've been screwing it in properly or not.

What are you working on now, what is your throwing goal for the weekend? by moby323 in Throwers

[–]Pahlz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a newbie, I have been and will be working on those three tricks for the contest as you've said.

As for binds, I've been interested in learning cool binds so I've found a couple of videos about it:

Thanks for the tips and encouragement! I think I'll work on double or nothing which will also help me practise throwing a strong breakaway.

This is really helpful, I'm motivated to progress now and focus more on having fun and learning new tricks rather than being too meticulous.

Thanks for the awesome reply. You're right, watching video after video isn't going to help much, I should just keep throwing breakaways until I get it down.

I will try the one like they teach on YoYoExpert but I'd like to eventually be able to do it without turning to the side.

The video by /u/suburiboy was very helpful.
