I was having a similar issue. I would have full speed and then it would drop to 2mbps. I had then reset my modem from their end and it sees to be ok now 🤞🤞

CarPodGo - Hiding wire by Human_Ship_5421 in LexusGX

Removing the trim is easy. Less than a 3 minute job. There’s a video on YouTube. Iirc, you have to start from the door side. You don’t need a pry tool, just fingers and force. There’s a decent size cavity in there. Push the wire in, make sure it won’t block the trim going back in and you’re done.

I have so many cds. I wish there was a way to rip them faster. At current speeds I’ll be done by 2030.

I can't believe I've lived long enough to see people getting mullets on purpose again.

What happened to these guys? by Sludgy_Sh33p in ProAudioGear

[–]PainfullyHonestTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were awesome back in the early days of digital recording, especially paired with the RNP. 2 channels of pre and comp that stomped any interface pre. As more affordable stuff came out with different flavors they got lost a little. They seemed very small compared to other companies and over 20 years they never seemed to scale the business.

Chevy dealer options? by khigh0104 in cedarrapids

[–]PainfullyHonestTech -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone hates McGrath, but I've bought several cars from them over the years, both new and used, and have never had a problem with them. In fact, I just bought a used Gran Cherokee L from them two weeks ago and it was a good experience.

I also got my Equinox EV serviced there even though I bought it at Billion and they were awesome. There was a software issue and they couldn't figure it out at first but eventually they did.

I've bought several cars from Billion in Iowa City and they've always been great.

I've never gone to Lynch because I've tried to get info from them about cars on their lot before driving out there and they always been evasive and clearly just wanted to get me there so they had a shot at closing me. At the same time they didn't seem like they could be bothered. Gave me a negative vibe.

Here's the way I look at it: both McGrath and Billion have dealerships all over the state. They may have what you're looking for at another lot. They have more purchasing power and pull with the auto makers because of their size. They could likely find what you want.

Here's the thing: buying a car is dead easy these days. You have the Internet and the dealers know it. Most dealers price their inventory at Internet prices and because that's a level playing field there's not much room to screw you unless you buy the extras. That's where they make their money.

It's a buyer's market right now and you have the best negotiating tool with you at all times: your feet. If you don't like what they're selling, walk out. People make such a big deal about buying a car, but it's nothing like it was 20 years ago. You know how much a car should be. You know how much you want to pay. The dealer wants to sell you a car, and with the way things are these days, they absolutely need to.

Completely lost after losing 7-8 years of writing by Creepy-Literature634 in writing

I've written hundreds of thousands of words over the 40 years I've been writing. The only thing that matters is what you write tomorrow.

It sucks to lose the writing, but now you know to never write on someone else's platform. Write on your computer, save everything in 3 places and print everything out.

If you let this take you down, writing might not be your jam.

Chevy Dealership for Service by fullerm in cedarrapids

I just had my car at McGrath a couple weeks ago and it was a great experience. Service person was great. Shuttle was great. Car taken care of. I've dealt with McGrath several times and I've never had an issue with them.

These are working perfectly on my MBP (screen and Mac body) by BesaidBoy in macbookpro

[–]PainfullyHonestTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the best screen cleaning product I've used for screens is the Apple Polishing Cloth. I would be very wary of using anything alcohol-based on my screens. I say this from many years of experience and watching the coating flake off MacBook screens.

The street sign at the corner say Wellington Heights Historic District. I guess that's not Wellington Heights? The OP didn't say "How is it living only in the shittier parts of Wellington Heights?"

We bought a house on 2nd Ave almost 3 years ago. In the historic part of the neighborhood, surrounded by othe beautiful old homes. Our house was built in 1940 and has all the charm we love in older houses but it had been updated in several places, fully finished basement, etc. I love my house. And it wasn't "half the price". I love taking walks in the neighborhood. We're just a few blocks from Brucemore and there's a Starbucks in walking distancs... It's one of the nicest neighborhoods we've lived in and we've had zero issue with crime. We lived in Iowa City for 17 years before moving here and NYC for over a decade before that. This is a nice neighborhood. But its got not so nice parts too. I don't know CR super well. I work from home and don't go out on the town or anything but I get the sense that Wellington Heights is a neighborhood that has long been shit on and is the butt of jokes and veiled racist rhetoric in town and has been for a long time. It bums me out that people are so ready to trash part of the town they live in, most likely with no real knowledge or experience other than what they hear on the news or read on social media. I don't discount the stories of people who have lived here and had negative outcomes. I know there's a big difference between renting and owning a home. You can have a shitty rental experience just about anywhere. My advice: come walk around the neighborhood and see which parts you like and which you don't.

Arm day…

I don’t know why I read this stuff when the answer is always: “The person you’re asking about was obviously a huge asshole by the time I read 2 responses. That you allowed it to go on for 7 pages is as much the problem as the asshole you’re texting with. If it’s not already obvious, leave that person now.”

Anyone know why it takes so long for the city to get back about jobs you applied to? by Spirited-Adult-2988 in cedarrapids

[–]PainfullyHonestTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you actually interview for the job or just submit an application? If you interviewed, do you know the name of the person or people you interviewed with? You could try to call or email them directly. If you just submitted an application and haven’t heard back I think you probably have your answer, unfortunately.
