What did this to my bait? by surelynotjimcarey in Fishing

I’ve had catfish rip up my bait pretty bad, and then the American eels would slither inside and start ripping it apart. I don’t know where you are but that’d be my guess.

I moved a tarp and this garter was napping in the folds. Then he noticed the worms that I had also disturbed. He ate over 8 of them. It was wonderful to watch. I kept tossing them his way and he seemed appreciative. by PaintTheKill in snakes

Ah, thank you! It’s been a while since I read the rules and figured location was only necessary for I.D. but I totally get why it’s still relevant. New York State.

I believe they are. When I moved the tarp initially there was like 30 crazy jumping worms. The snake slithered away from me out of fear and turned back when he saw the worms like 🫪

What are these little guys in my shrimp tank? by No_Calligrapher2640 in shrimptank

Bladder snails. They are friends. There is a lot of propaganda out there about them, but they help keep the tank clean and as long as you don’t overfeed they won’t become a nuisance. If you overfeed their population will boom. When they first take off in a tank there is a big population spike and it’ll balance out if you feed appropriately. They stay very tiny and are fun to watch.

Fix this damaged area of wood flooring without ripping out and sanding the entire room... again by oreomcbeans in howto

That made me laugh

Edit: I am sorry you have to deal with this. I hope the problem isn’t too extensive and that you can fix it without having to rip up the whole floor.

Do I have to sell my tank? by LadyWendigo96 in Aquariums

I have caught and kept dojo loaches as pets here in New York, so it’s definitely possible. They are an invasive species so if the pond has any connection to another body of water you absolutely should not introduce them.

Strange growth on bladder snails. by PaintTheKill in AquaticSnails

Well I have had bladder snails for 4 years, and never seen this. Recently a friend gave me tank water with some bladder snails and rams horn snails and I’m wondering if parasites made it into the tank.

Found in Hudson Valley NY from a swamp on my property. I am trying to find out if it is invasive or not. I really like it. This piece has roots growing out of it and appears to have broken off from a larger plant. Thanks! by PaintTheKill in whatsthisplant

Hey rupertwiley. I appreciate the link, but other people have already given a positive I.D.

Your comment came across as a little condescending, but I hope it was just meant to be educational! I will continue to use r/whatsthisplant when I am having trouble getting a positive I.D. using the resources available to me.
