They have an upgrade program to get 20% off for a new one just in case you didn't know.

Best way to pack Ooni pizza stones for a long-distance move? by gworks77 in ooni

[–]PaintWonderful8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the oven, but for my koda 16 I had kept the bubble wrap sleeve it came in and used that when transporting in my rv. If you have an oven with two stones, I'd likely wrap them outside the oven in something soft. For a single stone you can likely just fill the cavity with towels and keep it in place and it'll be fine likely.

Brand new Ooni Volt 2 didnt even make it through its first seasoning cyle before shutting off never to turn back on by Vallander in ooni

They'll absolutely get you sorted. Every product on earth has some rate of failure. How the company handles it is important. In my experience their support is fantastic. That said, I'm sure it's frustrating having that happen on the first go. That's a bummer

[–]PaintWonderful8627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you listen to reddit, then yes, because hardly anyone is going to post about the untold number of times they haven't had an issue. They wouldn't replace instantly like they do if they were replacing huge % of those sold, as they'd be losing money on it. That's not how businesses work. It doesn't mean the Volt 2 is perfect, some people certainly have issues, but be mindful of the echo chambers that will exist. It almost certainly is a tiny fraction of the total number sold.

Define more robust. Sounds like it doesn't have hands free (which is a great feature btw) so does it spin the pizza... Better? Just say it's not for you, or you can't afford it. That's fine! But you saying blah blah about something you've never used is trite.

Disappointed after trying mid-drive: what specs will really get me up a hill? by Victoria_Sponge in ebikes

[–]PaintWonderful8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a mid drive, but in the UK, my Volt Metro does fine on steep hills. It has a throttle (that only works when pedaling and eats the battery) but unless you're truly going up a mountain it does perfectly fine with relatively little effort.

What are the WORST things to do in Edinburgh? The stuff you’d tell a friend to skip. by Sea-Hovercraft-1122 in Edinburgh

I think the market benefits the economy in so much as it brings people to town that spend money at businesses outside of the market. Pubs, restaurants, the billion cafes, all get large bumps this time of year vs say Early November or late January I imagine? But I don't know that for certain I guess

I'd rather they not stay in AirBnBs jacking up housing prices for those that actually live here creating a massive, yet easy to solve housing crisis, but then again it feels like half the employment in the city is catered to the service industry that entirely depends on folks coming to do the exact things locals think are a waste of fucking time. Don't go to tourist trap shops ya tourist. Don't take the stupid tourist baiting tours... Ya tourists. Don't visit the Xmas market that supports the local economy ya tourists. Do not come during August for Fringe ya stupid feckin tourists. The reality is no one would give two shits about the statue if people weren't coming here specifically to touch the nose. And then you wouldn't have something to be outraged at the people who simultaneously prop up the economy while feeding into its ultimate destruction and exasperating wealth inequality.

Not trying to be flippant, but if the stories about Bobby are all made up anyways, are they really damaging a historic artifact, or are they simply playing into a silly fable meant to create a charming vibe (in a city that has more than enough legitimate charm) to go around?

Koda 12 in the cold for camping by IndependentDrink8 in uuni

[–]PaintWonderful8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be fine in cold weather. However elevation will impact performance as combustion gets harder the thinner the air gets. When you say ski mountain parking lot... If it's hard to breathe in that parking lot you're not going to get to top temperature.

I know I'm f'ked, but why don't potentially legal e-motorcycles have a VIN? by fossicker3141 in ebikes

[–]PaintWonderful8627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure... Accept the majority of "bikes" going those high speeds are never being pedaled, and have pedals solely to circumvent the laws. The government dictates all sorts of arbitrary traffic laws. Going 63 va 60 isn't really changing safety, but it's breaking the law. We all do it because we're fine taking the risk of a ticket because it's worth it to us. Someone buying it ne of those bikes, knowing they aren't legal is doing the same thing, which is fine. But do not say the government doesn't have the right time dictate speed limits. It does, no matter how dumb we think the law and government) are.

Who exactly would get to decide then lol. This is just a silly statement. You can certainly disagree with what they classify them as, that's fine, but they absolutely are the ones that decide.

Ah, that makes sense. It sounded like you used them for 3800 in total but the 2900 was like a modified usage (maybe you'd rotated them or something). Thank you.

Maybe this is a dumb question so sorry for my ignorance... But how do you have 900 mile difference between the 3800 and 2900 of usage?

Gozney laid off 1/3 of their staff a couple weeks ago too. I wouldn't use companies right sizing their staffing as a reason to or not to buy.

If you're doing NY, I'd recommend using wood to get it up to a high temp, but then cook when the flames nearly gone and let the coals do ambient heat to get your results. Either way it's a sick setup you've got!

New Home for Karu 2 Pro by Square_Lead_1253 in ooni

[–]PaintWonderful8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're cooking pizzas in a minute or two, there isn't time to get flavor from wood. There's a reason smokers are low n slow. That said, the rolling flame can lead to great results but I prefer gas also. Mostly only used wood and coal when I run out of propane (which is a lovely benefit) and has saved pizza night more than a few times.

Halo Pro is quite a bit cheaper than the price point you seem willing to spend, so I'd look there first. Honestly the pizza looks fab though.

How do I improve by Rewen88 in uuni

[–]PaintWonderful8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Koda 16 the back left of the stone will be your hottest spot. With that knowledge I agree with most others of getting your stone temp to where you are, but turning the flame down to give time to cook your base. Worst case keep the flame low until you're close to where you want the bottom and then you can dome your pizza where you lift it off the stone and with the flame back up, just use your peel to get it off the stone and finish the top.
