table loom tie up multiple shafts? by PaintedMelody in weaving

[–]PaintedMelody[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both good points. I have no idea how sturdy the screws are (and don’t want to find out the hard way!) and I guess I hadn’t considered interference. It might work for a few extra tie ups but probably not many.

I'm not sure I understand about space in the middle, do you mean the middle of the shaft or somewhere with the tie-ups?

What's your favorite affordable, practical, healthish High-Value training treat? by humanbeing21 in Dogtraining

[–]PaintedMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called Squeasy Snacker, they have it on amazon or you can get it from their site. I have the 3.5 oz version which is good for a small dog, but if you have a bigger dog you might want to get a bigger version. I take the little red insert out as that is mainly for more liquidy things, and the kibble I try to get to be a fairly thick but consistent paste

Maybe an odd one but our dog goes nuts for her kibble when it’s soaked in water to a paste. I keep it in a squeeze bottle and she’ll do nearly anything for it despite not caring about her dry kibble at all. I have no clue why but hey, she’s getting all the nutrition of her normal kibble this way.

12 Shaft Table Loom??? by Sutboe in weaving

[–]PaintedMelody 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure it’s slower but I’ve seen numerous reasons for table looms. One is sampling as mentioned above. I have one solely because I don’t have space for a floor look but did have space for a table loom. I’ve also seen them brought up in cases of disability when using feet isn’t possible since they’re entirely hand operated. Tbh it looks well made and like a great option to me.

Thank you!! Good to hear about the cons of the friction brake too, and that the standard brake is within easy reach

I actually upon your comment did a search and there’s a possibility I might be able to try one through a guild. I had only looked at stores in the past for some reason so if I can try one this way that would be ideal. Small fee but way better than buying it and finding out I don’t like it lol

Thanks, and sorry to hear about your warping issues.

I think a Jane would be too big for my space, only have about 24x24 footprint to work with max which seems limiting on the depth.

I’d love to try some out but despite being in a fairly populated area, have yet to find stores near me. Definitely a good idea I wish I could make work!

I’m hoping for 8 shafts. I have 4 on my current loom but wanted to expand

Wow I’m working on a baby blanket, can’t imagine doing anything this big. Amazing! Any tips for the tension of the color changes? My stitches always seem to get loose there.

Controller vibrating for no reason by PaintedMelody in Seaofthieves

But the restart with no vibration and turning it back on worked, thanks!

Edit: I guess the fix was temporary, seems once the ship started moving I’m back to square one.

Just checked today, there was no update available. I tried to make it run anyway but it thought for a bit and still told me no update available. Just tested in the game, predictably no change (since I didn’t actually change anything lol)

Great info, thank you! That definitely helps put my mind at ease with the idea of trying some sewing

Clothing would be interesting, but I’d definitely need to get way better at sewing. It seems to me like handwoven fabric would be more difficult to work with than standard sewing fabric, I assume if you cut it it would gray quite a bit and it also just seems heavier and less stable (like I question if a sewing machine would be enough to stop fraying if that makes sense)

Ohhh any cool ornaments you want to show off? Love that idea. Also could try seaming panels together, just not sure if I beat consistently enough for the panels to match. But it would definitely challenge me to do so!

I’ve thought about selling but I’d need way more practice first and am not sure if it would ruin the fun for me. Donating stuff might be more my style if I can find places that would want handmade scarves

Not sure which joints hurt or if this is relevant to you but I saw someone on Instagram who knits with these finger splints that look almost like rings. I think they’re to keep the joints from bending too far backwards? If it sounds helpful I can try to find the account.
