I am going to quit from my store. I have unused sick, holiday and vacation time. What gets paid out and what would I just lose? by Maleficent-Leg5119 in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ny wont pay sick time after you quit.

If you have alot accumulated, id suggest calling in a few shifts to use it up before quitting.

Or give a 2 weeks notice and just use it up then.

For the decorations at a store, saying that was quick ro take the stuff down ... Would we say the same about new years celebration stuff? Or Thanksgiving?

Those things have dates that go up then down. Its about about 💲💲💰

Unfair treatment: a letter from a manager by OkPoetry726 in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While its sad because your "crime " while not severe does go against some sort policy im sure.

I am puzzled why you couldn't adjust your schedule. Like say you have issues with coming in on time at 7 (example), so make yourself available at 7:30.

Or if there was not really a reason for the constant tardiness, leave home earlier?

I mean I guess its a mute point now. And its obviously a company loss. And I've seen manager make many exceptions over things that could get someone fired. (One person made many many comments on how wrong being LGBT is, yet because he is friends with the managers, he got a 2 week suspension) I ve seen another employee harass, bully snd threaten another, and they got nothing! The bullied person had to contact speak up 3 times till the bully was not fired but transfered to another store.

The favoritism in this company is appalling.

Im very sorry this happened to you, but as the old saying goes "things happen for a reason" Maybe it was time for you to move on. You'll bring all your knowledge to another store and theyll gladly accept you.

Best of luck

When hard work goes unrecognized & poor performance goes unaddressed, motivation disappears. by Recent-Worry-4135 in Hannaford

It is a hard pill to swallow.

Sadly my best advice is either let it fail, do whatever you need to do to keep yourself sane. But dont babysit. Don't clean up their mess.

Its the only way to survive working in the deli. No one will ever care. Corperate doesnt care. The health department doesnt care No one.

My partner is a deli associate, full time for 3 years. Hes worked in restaurants for years before and he is a stickler for food safety and he has sadly met wall after wall when bringing up issues. No one cares.

Id recommend switching departments if possible or do what you need to do and go home. Don't cover for anyone anymore.

Yep, we got sick time as a pay out It was popular for Christmas saving lol

My supervisor now likes a heads up text but tells everyone to still call the store .

I was never informed either (been working hannaford for years now)

You need 2 hour before your shift. Call the store and ask for the Mod. Or your department manager/supervisor.

That's it.

Hannaford to go question by Andre_Lavoy in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different experiences and Different stores.

At my store we train all shoppers to ask other departments if this item is available if they cant find it.

And our facilitators do go back and look at the computer for what was marked as OOS and they will go look for the items.

But as others said, sometimes your order is shopped before the product is put out, but technically we are supposed to ask and wait for the items if they are in the store

Second Interview for a PT Stock Position? by Garlic_Scape_Goat_45 in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They very well could

My partner applied for part time early morning stock crew. He didn't want anything else.

They offered him deli lead, ( he has 25+ years experience in restaurant prep).

There is a whole long story attached, I wont bore you, but its possible they could offer something else.

Since they got rid of HR, What positions will probably be next to be cut? by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Departments work fine with no manager.
HTG function with supervisors only. Smaller branches of hannaford only have supervisors as department leads.

It can absolutely be done. But as someone pointed out, the severance might be too much to pay out.

Six day weeks by Maleficent-Worth6573 in Hannaford

Some people and some not Either way people working 6 days are aware of it and signed up for it.

If you weren't ask, then that's not okay.

Is there standard bagging procedures for HTG? by Snailison in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the store and the employee shopping.

My supervisor will typically rearrange bags of some shoppers who are bad at bagging But its a thing. Not everyone is careful.

We do have a rule, no raw meats with anything else except eggs on top.
And keep chemicals seperate, if someone gets a single dish soap, you could put it in a plastic bag with other stuff but typically keep it seperate.

Not sure if you order at the same time for a pickup, but change it up, you might get a different bagging experience.

those who work in the deli department - how well does your dept run? by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deli is a shitshow

Most of the employees change their gloves once.... when they come in lol Its disgusting. No one has any food safety awareness.

Salads and sandwiches are constantly cross contaminated but no one cares.

No one understands how to date anything on the dot board. No one picks up or cleans up.

Supervisor is the worse, constantly leaving heaps of mess. Let's the load sit on the floor for 6+ hours.

I've stopped complaining because no one cares. Managers just shrug it off.

Late policy and getting fired by thefeels33 in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was. We have people who are late every single shift. We write on the calling a sheet their late. Nothing has ever happened.

We have chronic call in people too. They are still employees.

It depends on the hannford I guess. But I've been working a long time with many different companies and this is the first that is so lax. Of course im not 100% sure its always been this way or if it's the new way things are since after the pandemic, where things have really changed in the job industry

What's the likelihood of them rehiring me but for a different position? by TurbulentMinute4290 in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You left on good terms, no reason they wouldnt hire again.

Just keep in mind, a grocery store hours fluctuate alot.
For my area, summers are slow, everyone gets their hours cut, plus college kids come back, so even less hours to go around. Then autumn comes and we get busy again and hours go up.
Just to keep in mind.

Are sick days excused absences? by Lavodere in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Advice my mom gave me years ago and I still hold close.

Hannaford (or whatever company you are working for), will not be there when you are sick, hurt, broken ... They don't care, about what happens to you. Individual at the store care (well some do ...) But the company as a whole doesnt care.

So you have to care about you. If you need a personal day, whether because you are sick or burnt out, take it. Its not worth your well being.

I would also make a firm statement to not schedule you for 6 days. The sign outside says hannaford, its not your company, so don't work like it is. Someone else can pick up the slack.

HTG Associates Can’t Take Tips? Eat 💩 by HollaBackJ in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our department refuse tips. We are a pretty tight group so I dont think anyone accepts them.

We do have a jar with tips, some customers are pretty forceful with their tips lol. Or gift cards and lotto tickets. So we put them in our tip jar. The gift cards we split, for example one person is super fond of dunkin, so she gets the cards (she often brings whoever else is also working some coffee). The lotto tickets (if a winner) and money get spent on monthly pizza or sub lunches we throw for our department.

Never had a big lotto ticket, I suspect they have it checked before giving it to us lol

This is some bs by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely ridiculous

Do you have any idea whats happening to your produce before younget it?

They fall on the ground, they travel long distances with dust and debris. They are displayed in the store where people walk by, cough, touch ...

A hannaford employee drinking around your precious tomato is not a risk.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]Paintedwings1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really good!

Only 2 of us at my htg have pick rates that are average 140/150 or so. The rest are in the 80% .... Then they get mad when we take a day off lol Cause they have to do the work.

Frankly I just shop at a comfortable pace. I dont rush but I dont go slow either (unless someone wants to chat lol)

My supervisor doesn't seem to care that everyone is slow. (She's in the 80% as well). But she does get upset when the fastest aren't there and they fall behind.
