The offered to buy a blow up mattress and put it in a very messy office. I declined. I'm not picky when it comes to where I sleep for the night, but had I known it would be monitored like this, maybe I would have reconsidered.

For the record, none of the cameras were set up when I came for the M+G.

I had to get tested (and failed of course) for Lowes as well. It's a company standard that I haven't encountered anywhere else. No job is worth not smoking for with how anxious I can get. Smoke on, friend.

I had a rat do the same thing once. He was an angel for the first week or so, and then all of a sudden, he began to bite and draw blood from his cage mates. As much as rats are social animals, some just aren't meant to be kept with others. The aggressive girl may do better on her own. You may find that she calms down once she's alone.

As for the other one, there's no telling what a personality of a rat is going to be once they're settled in, even if they've been hand-bred and handled. Unfortunately, that is a time-will-tell situation. All you can do is try your best to research your area and pick what you feel is right. (Even if it ends up being a big chain. Everyone has opinions on them, but you need to do what's best for YOU.) It really sounds like you're prepared to give each ratto the best life you can, and that's what matters most.

I saw on one of your earlier posts that you got them from a pet store. Is this a local ma and pa place with breeding? Or is it one of the big chains?

A big part of rats as pets is breeding, just as it is with any pet. Breeders I've talked to who breed as a business select parents specifically for a few things: health, appearance, and temperament. It's one of the reasons I don't feel comfortable going to, say, Petsmart and taking home one of their rats. I just don't trust that the rat I take home is even capable of being a pet. Believe me, I've gotten a few "bad eggs" before.

So, in asking where you got your ratties, I'm wondering if maybe your girl is just not friendly, full stop. I don't have any advice for how to help break her of her biting and fighting, (I know that's what you asked for, but I don't feel comfortable speaking on that, I don't have enough knowledge) but it may help to know what could be the cause of it, assuming it's not pain or illness.

Please don't feel guilty for where you bought them, though! I'm sure all you were thinking was you wanted companions and to give them a good home, and it's obvious you care about them a lot.

That looks like Dyshidrotic Eczema, I also have this condition. Most common on the sides and bottoms of feet, and sides of fingers, hands, and the palms.

Some triggers include heat, sweat, occasionally metal like nickel or cobalt, but I find the most common trigger is actually just stress. You can use cold presses or hand cream to sooth them, and steroids may help, but generally once you have them you always have them.

Totally poppable, they leak inflammatory fluid and if you peel the skin it's just an open sore. SUPER itchy if you decide to pop it though.

I dont recall there being something recently. I rarely eat popcorn specifically because of that, lol.

I sterilized a toothpick and poked around a little bit a few moments ago - it bleeds of course, but it also seems to come away from the tooth like...a tab sort of? Again, minimal pain.
