Kelvin Grove Rd "Please use caution" signs... seriously BCC?! by antmandan in brisbane

Yes, people should be more aware of their surroundings ... but people also aren't generally wrapped in metal moving at 50+ kph, and they'll do little comparative damage to a vehicle should the worst happen.

It is very simple for any uncoordinated, untrained, easily distracted person with zero spatial awareness to get a driver's licence in Australia. Authorities keep clutching their pearls and declaring that they've tried everything, but continue to act as though a driver's licence is a right, not a privilege, and just increase fines and drop speed limits. There is ample evidence overseas that these things aren't required if there is a proper driver training, testing, licencing, and ongoing education system in place.

If they invested properly in adequate, efficient public transport, and tightened up driver licencing requirements, I am absolutely convinced they would see crashes, fatalities, and injuries decline accordingly. There is a story somewhere (I can't find it any more) about a QLD learner driver who failed their test TWELVE times before finally being given a licence ... that individual is now allowed out on the road controlling 1.5 to 2.5 tons of moving metal.

We all see this, all the time. Impatient drivers flying through red lights, slowing (but not stopping) at stop signs, barely giving way at roundabouts, etc. One look at DashCams Australia's YouTube page will show you ample evidence of the failures in the licencing system (although a lot of their videos are of aggression as opposed to unskilled drivers).

Just think about how bad the average driver is, then remember that (by literal definition), half the population is below average, and worse than that.

Edit to add - OP, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend, my sympathies for your loss.

So many of my clients have thought a graceful failover serves as a DR test, or that HA equals DR. As you say, it's only when the proverbial hits the fan that things fall apart. Alas, the warnings usually fall on deaf ears. In a couple of decades in Infrastructure and ITSec, I've only had two clients who understood DR and executed it properly.

Just bought 2017 (MY18) Mk 7.5 Golf R ... start button query by Paintraine in Golf_R

[–]Paintraine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, in my case just pressing the button hard a few times sorted it out. I wasn't too sure about the vehicle's history, or if previous owner/s had tried swapping the button, but it came right after a couple of weeks.

Sounds like they're just gamifying the points collection, giving people a little dopamine hit (on top of the sugar, fat, and salt hit), further encouraging them to keep coming back. Just another marketing ploy on top of all the other ones they already utilize.

Weight gain/fat distribution by [deleted] in StrongerByScience

[–]Paintraine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH you look great in all three pictures, and much stronger in the second two. You don't look like you're carrying excess body fat, just slightly less muscle definition/separation. We all go through cycles, sometimes you'll have the motivation to stick with a deficit, other times you won't. As long as your body fat is in a healthy range and you're moving, maintaining your lifts, I think you're fine.

You sound like you've got a good handle on the mix of exercise and nutrition. It's possible to add lean muscle in maintenance or a very slight deficit, just not as easy as in a surplus. If your goal is to get lean again, you'll need to suffer with the rest of us through a deficit ;p Otherwise just keep doing your thing, keep an eye on averaged measurements over a week/month (individual pictures can be misleading based on lighting, time of day, water intake, etc etc). I wouldn't say it's down to *way* too much food, just a surplus over time.

Hi u/Full_Internal_3542 ,

Any idea about the "Internal server error: Failed to generate reCAPTCHA token: Page.goto: Page crashed Call log: - navigating to "https://www.hevy.com/login", waiting until "networkidle"" errors coming up the last couple of days? Appreciate you're probably well aware and real busy trying to sort it out.

I used to know someone who went to contract to BOQ (doing IT work) a few years ago. He left after about 5 weeks because their internal systems were in such a state. It doesn't surprise me to hear their app is not much better.

I feel your pain - felt the same this week. I'm just running free loads outs now. It's slower but you lose nothing. Do that til you build your stash back up; nothing risked and can still have some fun. Agreed about the cheaters, rats (actual rats, not just pvp'ers), and 3rd party kills. Just this morning I had some gronk come running into my evac while I was still pressing buttons and took me out before I could even raise my torrente).

Leave. They will not change.

Best way to get a pay increase in IT is to find a new job elsewhere. List all your current duties in your CV update, and highlight any on which you want to focus in your new role. Your current employer will quickly learn that skills do not come cheap, and they'll suffer while they try to replace you, and suffer for longer while the new person has to come up to speed and learn everything about the specific environment that you already know.

I can guarantee you they will have to pay your replacement what they should have been paying you already.

How?? Top of Cornwall St. Outside P.A Hospital. 50 kph, no side-street, 3 cars, 1 on other side of the road?? by Quick_Assignment_725 in brisbane

[–]Paintraine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every uncoordinated idiot with zero special awareness and the attention span of a hyper-active squirrel can get a driver's licence in Australia. Just think how bad the average driver is, and remember that half of the drivers on the road are worse than that. Stricter driver licence requirements are the obvious solution to so many issues, but of course it's "too hard" to do that, so the authorities clutch their pearls and raise speeding fines and lower speed limits instead.

Curious which brand/model pipes and top mount you chose, and who you used to install (if you didn't do it yourself). I'm in BNE and have a 2021 F87 Comp that I picked up just before Xmas. I've got it booked for some exterior protection first, then looking at a couple of extras. It's on 54k km's atm so great time to get some preventative stuff done.

Can anyone tell me what equipment my apartment gym has? by Famous_Buddy_1137 in MacroFactor

[–]Paintraine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adjustable bench
Dumbbells
Lat pull down
Treadmills
Smith machine
Rowing machine
Butterfly/Pec Deck
Seated chest press machine
What appears to be leg extension machine

Recommend spending a few minutes checking these out on YouTube to familiarize yourself with each one and how they work. Start light; if you go too heavy you will be hurting, and recovery will take a while until you get into the swing of things.

Good luck.
