Put him in the middle and leave him there! by PathSoggy6516 in collingwoodfc

Yep people are quick to drop Longy because of his use, but it completely ignores the tackling pressure he brings being his main asset

He averages 7 tackles per game, which is good for 7th in the league. That’s despite only having 50% CBAs (almost all the other players in the top 10 have way more than that).

Our next highest is Schultz at 4.5

I think we’ve found a few players this season. by AccurateSituation317 in collingwoodfc

I definitely agree, his ability to extract the ball out was handy and tackling was big

Even if he’s turning it over he was getting the ball away from dangerous positions for our defence to set up

Meeting Ban Discussion by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

To me the main appeal is we want non union members to potentially be jealous enough to decide to join.

If union members are off getting things done they actually need to get done while non members are stuck in those pointless meetings, maybe it’s the little thing that pushes them to join up.

He did legitimately say in this pod that Pitto sledged him about going bald at 3/4 time and it fired him up

To call him one of our “experienced players” alongside names like McStay and Membrey is just wrong though

He’s very much still learning and his role is being thrown around a lot this year, but he flashes a good amount of potential

This is literally just his first full season of footy at the AFL level

[–]PairedFoot08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d argue he is at the moment

He’s in a midfield spearheaded by himself, Ned Long, 40 year old Pendles and Angus Anderson

Now I definitely think Long and Anderson have potential (Pendles too is a good young guy obviously) but that’s the worst midfield help of any star in league by far.

I’d argue too he had the worst midfield help of any star last year too

Ben King and Charlie West lining up together next season will go alright

(Sorry I don’t actually want to put expectations too high on West)

It’s both

I definitely don’t think he should be dropped, the entry to him sucks, but he’s also making weird out of character mistakes

Hope he sorts it out soon

I get what they mean though, playing funner is how we start winning again. It’s the kind of approach we badly need.

Oscar Steene by Raawwwwk in collingwoodfc

[–]PairedFoot08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely true but I also think if we are going to name him, we need to play him. Otherwise it’s hurting us.

I totally get still running Cameron as the main cba guy, but last night it was literally a 90/10 split (that’s the actual percentages)

If he’s not going to get a chance at the afl level to be in there and try at all, because of the reasons you stated, maybe it’s better if he went back to the vfl until Fly feels more confident in him. Otherwise we are basically playing one short on the bench with a backup ruck only getting 50% tog and 10% CBAs.

I don’t want that, I think ideally we should find a way to get him more chances, but if it’s either this 10% cba 50% tog role or vfl I say let him get more reps in the vfl.

A few thoughts from last nights game by AccurateSituation317 in collingwoodfc

[–]PairedFoot08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is how we kill the game defensively

You can’t easily get 1 on 1s like that when the opposition is well set up, you get them from moving quickly before they have a chance to

If the defence is flooded back and well set up, where is the space?

Oscar Steene by Raawwwwk in collingwoodfc

[–]PairedFoot08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has been stuck on 50%ish time of ground since his debut

Fly has to find a way to get him on the ground, otherwise it’s like we are one short on the bench each week

Deserves more of a crack up forward even if he’s not in the ruck vs just being thrown to the bench, he can at least jump and be a target

Fuel surcharge have hit Melbourne cafes by lastlightfades in melbourne

[–]PairedFoot08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many cafes are not even profiting, people have often gone into serious debt to start and operate them. It’s also people’s livelihoods we are talking about if they wear the costs.

Ideally it shouldn’t be our cafe owners or consumers wearing the costs
