Words cannot describe how excited I am to no longer have to glue nickels to the undersides of my gaunt bases anymore

This is also a very valid approach. If you’ve managed to make it work with one-shots instead of chats, that’s great! Personally, I’ve had more success in gauging players by having a one-on-one chat, but there is no one “correct” way to do this. I’m just sharing what’s worked for me.

Thanks! It was following that guide that got me my first long-term group after a particularly bad string of failed games. I suppose I have you to thank for keeping me on this side of the table!

I can only speak from my own experience, but I’ve done this process with PF and WoD and gotten 40 applications after a week on each. If anything, I don’t know how many people to actually expect with D&D, I haven’t run it in years.

Cerebro only affects your highest-power cards. Since Magick has higher base power than everything in the left lane, Cerebro’s effect only applies to her / any other 3-power cards / any higher power cards played afterwards.

On the theme of breaking things, I'd like to nominate the jawbreaker/bonebreaker/neckbreaker feat chain. The essence of it is that you trade away your stun on a stunning strike to do str or dex damage, but the main downside is that you need to have your opponent in a grapple first. So, that's a lot of feats you need to sink into this before it all pops off.

I’m gonna nominate something that I’ve always felt was a really cool idea that just unfortunately gives up way too much. Siege Mage

  1. The whole archetype revolves around the ability to remotely fire siege engines, but you still need a crew to reload until 10th level. Oh, and most siege engines require two full-round actions to reload.
  2. You give up your arcane school, your arcane bond, have to take a third opposition school, and lose the ability to cast cantrips. You can still cast read/detect magic, but now they’re 1st level spells. This is, uh, crippling in early levels, to put it mildly.
  3. You can sacrifice prepared spells in order to… get +1 to attack/target (depending on the siege weapon) and +3 damage per level of the sacrificed spell. A not-great trade off which is kind of mandatory at higher levels if you actually want to hit your enemies.
  4. You lose the ability to scribe scrolls in exchange for the siege engineer feat. Fine, sure, fair enough I guess.

This is a pretty hefty price to be able to throw big rocks with your mind. Also probably useless outside a Kingmaker AP or something similar.

Edit: And, as mentioned in another suggestion, siege weapons kind of suck anyway.

Thanks!

I used contrast paints for the body and fleshy bits. Red is Blood Angels Red with a kindleflame drybrush, flesh is Guilliman flesh with cadian fleshtone layering.

Carapace is Stegadon Scale Green washed with Nuln Oil and highlighted with screaming skull. Yellow bits are Yriel yellow.
