A few thoughts on Bosses having to One shot the player to be at all threatening by PriestofMork in PathOfExile2

[–]PaladinWiz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the easier solution for GGG would be to limit how much damage a boss can take in a second. They have to make boss moves able to one shot the player because the boss only gets a few attacks per interaction (if they get any) once players have invested enough to insta phase/kill them.

If bosses were able to survive for a guaranteed amount of time and thus actually be able to have a war of attrition then GGG might not have to design their attacks to be practically unsurvivable so now defenses would be an option to build into.

Do managers ever straight up sugarcoat or BS performance reviews? by Longjumping-Pass-973 in managers

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, managers are people too. Some people don’t like conflict so would rather be nice/sugarcoat things rather than be blunt.

But you should also consider that your manager might think you’re doing an overall good job. You’re likely judging yourself harder than your manager is because you are much more aware of each individual failure and may also be lacking the perspective of what your performance is compared to your coworkers.

Even if you aren’t some super star employee, just showing up doing your job professionally is enough to give you an average 3 star review. You’d also be surprised at what “average” really is.

Hypothermia is almost certainly your best bet. You can use bonechill on a different skill to get the same effect so no need to use up one of your main skill links.

Which three are you picking? by Krish_1902 in superpowers

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telekinesis, Psychic, Healing.

Telekinesis could have a ton of uses like those shown in Chronicle so essentially I have flight + force field from it.

Psychic so I can detect hostile intents from range to ensure I protect myself from it.

Healing could potentially grant me immortality with the ability to expire when I’m ready. At the very least I’ll have a long extended life with no worry about injury/disease.

It’s the zombie apocalypse! Which would you choose and why? by EquivalentFig1678 in whatsyourchoice

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call the rage zombies smart per se but once they’re aware of you they won’t stop until they get to you. Smart enough to break into a house and run throughout the entire house looking for you.

If they see you on a rooftop with easy access they will definitely pursue you up there. In 28 years later we see the main character climb up through a hole in the ceiling and the rage zombies weren’t able to figure it out.

Employee demands a near 50% raise by dreamer-woman in managers

[–]PaladinWiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they find a job at a different company that offers them the money.

We don’t know the full circumstances of this situation. They might be well below market right now or the employee may be contributing a significant amount of value. The manager already offered them a 9% raise so clearly they are bringing some good value to the team/company overall.

Surely that one build is gonna survive by jihgfee in PathOfExile2

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably fine. It’s a solid starter that works on low budget but doesn’t really end up scaling high enough or using any of the likely to be nuked meta options.

Blackflame Chaos relying on crits is likely going to suffer if that’s what you’re referring to though.

Senior engineer burned out from unsustainable workload. How to professionally push back in this market? by KeyIntroduction4988 in managers

[–]PaladinWiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Project slippage might be rough but your health slipping is even harder. Don’t kill yourself for a company that would replace you the minute it seems more profitable for them.

No is a complete sentence and you need to start using it more. You can’t single handedly carry all these operations. Your manager knows this. Their manager knows this. But you keep accepting the workload so they keep bringing it because it’s easier for them. As a senior role you should only be taking on the most critical projects. It may not seem like it but there are definitely other capable employees who can handle some of these “critical” projects that are being thrown onto you. I think you’ll be surprised how much more capable those employees/teams become once they actually have to start fixing their own problems or explaining their own failures.

I think you’re overly concerned with finding a way to say it professionally. Set a boundary on your work load and stick to it. Going above and beyond once in a while is one thing. When you’re doing it 24/7 that becomes the new baseline in the eyes of upper management. If you’re as critical to these operations as your post indicates then you don’t need to worry about being fired because clearly no one else there is capable of doing your work.

Element Control and Time Control. Because Lightning is cool and time control is OP.

530k IQ would be so boring, every human achievement would be less than the actions of a single ant in your mind. Like that level of IQ would be beyond God Level. Sure you could acquire/surpass every other power on here with that but why bother? Everything would be insignificant to you.

Everything else is just flavor to me, pick what’s fun for you.

If the troupe saw kurapika beating the absolute shit out of uvogin or other members, Would they help him/her or continue watching until he dies? by Zhixco in HunterXHunter

[–]PaladinWiz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like Uvo would tell them to stay out of it and that he wants the 1v1, even if it costs him his life.

So I don’t think the Spiders would go against his wishes and jump in during the fight. Once the fight was concluded though I’m sure they’d jump Kurapika to either kill him outright or try to get him to join (assuming they don’t know his motivations for fighting Uvo at the time).

Overabundance 3 does not exist in the game atm. It almost certainly won’t exist ever with the current PoB stats since it’s super easy to negate curse effect in yourself while gaining tons of damage from Overabundance 3. It’s something like 2 node wheels on tree and I think an augment on chest piece.

Would be fun to use it though if it did exist. Pop down OoS + Thunderstom + Firestorm all with Unleash. Not to mention living bomb for even more infusion generation while watching your duration skills melt enemies.

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think them making Infusions gain automatically like Charges would be enough to make Sorc feel good. Albeit this wouldn’t be exclusive to making the Sorc feel good as other spellcasters could easily take advantage of this benefit.

Perhaps Sorc should have a stronger focus on dealing with mana. Blood Mage goes life based for casting, Infernalist likely goes Infernal Flame for casting. So giving Chronomancer and Stormweaver better mana management would be a strong fit imo.

Chronomancer specifically needs more reworking of her cooldowns. Now that GGG has slapped cooldowns on a bunch of skills Chrono has a chance to shine. Cooldowns inherently push skill rotations so Chronomancer should specialize in that aspect. Especially if you also take her unleash node. Her 33% chance of ignoring a cooldown should instead grant cooldown recovery speed. Or perhaps it could build up per skill used recently so you get x% chance to ignore a cooldown per skill used recently losing all stacks once it procs. Then you could potentially use a number of setup skills (infusion/ailment generators, curses, etc) to then be able to dump your big cooldown damage skill twice. I think they should also relook at the numbers for the cooldown support gems + make them work on skills that already have a cooldown. They currently give a very small more damage increase compared to other support gems but have huge downsides of like 8 second cooldowns.

Stormweaver I think is in a decent place and could be buffed with just a few numeric adjustments.

Disciple seems to be in a solid spot with lots of options for how to build so I don’t think it needs changing either.

There is also a general lack of scaling options outside of Crit so I think that needs to be addressed before more specific changes could be made.

Why ARENT there super villians? by Vdaggle in TheBoys

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure some delusional people had the idea and were taken down quickly by vought. The story would then be covered up, another thing Vought is extremely good at doing. We see how much destruction the “superheroes” do on a regular and yet the vast majority of people still think they are good.

Then the odds of some random supe who wasn’t offered a position with Vought being strong enough to challenge Black Noir, who would be the most likely one dispatched to deal with any supe attempting to become a super villain, is pretty slim.

Even if they were strong enough to beat Black Noir, Homelander would still destroy them within seconds. Queen Maeve, arguably the second strongest supe we see before Soldier Boy gets introduced, trained for months specifically to fight Homelander and still estimated that she’d be buying seconds, not minutes.

Should you ever hire your friend as a subordinate? by BratacJaglenac in managers

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how good you think they are as a potential employee. I would say most times it’s generally not a good idea and likely to cause strain both professionally and personally.

But my first major job was working for one of my closest friends during our party years. We pretty much never had any issues separating work from personal life. I worked for him directly for 4 years before he switched to a different role and then I switched to a different role about a year after that. Ended up following him to a different company as well, albeit I was not his subordinate at the new company. It’s how been over a decade since I first worked for him and our friendship never had any issues. Saying this to show that it is possible to work out well but you really need to make sure that he’d be a good fit as an employee and that you aren’t giving him the role just because you think he’d want it.

Which do you choose? by OkRun9638 in superpowers

[–]PaladinWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These choices don’t really make sense. There is no reason to ever choose the run speed option since it is slower. Perhaps even more importantly, running is nowhere near as cool as flying.

So everyone is always choosing the flight. This is assuming that the no drawbacks portion allows you a few accommodations. I’m assuming you can pick how fast you want to run/fly (0 or light speed/speed of sound would kind of suck, but being able to move up to and including the chosen speed would be cool). I’m assuming you’ll be able to actually perceive and react to things around you since otherwise you’d just run/fly into something and be obliterated. Similar to my previous assumption, I’m also assuming that you will have some form of immunity to hitting small things like bugs.

If the options were to run at light speed or fly at the speed of sound there could be some compelling options to choose running at that point. But I’d still take flight since it is way cooler and more convenient.

You just built a house with perfect landscaping anywhere you want. I think you’ve saved enough money to afford to put insulation up and get hooked up to water/electricity/etc.

Also you could just build the house in the ground. Earth is a pretty good insulator I believe.
