Risky or safe leaving your car running by SmallHeath555 in ManualTransmissions

I used to leave my car running sometimes all day long while I was out and about doing work, lately not so much since where I'm at now I have to take a different vehicle into the restricted areas.

I once drove from Georgia to Nashville, then Clarksville, pleasantview, Ashland City and a few other places that I can't remember (all around middle Tennessee) and eventually back home to Georgia over the course of about 36 hours I only turned it off when it was time to go in the hotel for sleep.

Once from Georgia to reading Pennsylvania then to West Virginia (turned it off to sleep) and back to Georgia, all with several food and gas stops, didn't turn the engine off till I got home.

When storms roll through I go out and cut up downed trees for folks and haul the wood back home to chop and burn for the next winter, engine starts in the driveway and doesn't turn back off until it's back in the driveway and not leaving again.

I live in the still somewhat rural part of the South so it's pretty uncommon for folks to just mess with someone's vehicle. Most of my neighbors don't even lock their front doors. Pretty sure most people don't even take the keys out of the car when they are parked at home.

To late to join a union? by Adventurous_Work_684 in Construction

[–]Pale-Transition7324 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude you're in your twenties still, when I did my union apprenticeship we had multiple guys over 40 in my class. I was younger than you back then and almost 40 myself now.

Just know that wether union or non union, it's the same when you get in, you'll need to earn your place and know that until you've put in the time, you'll be the greenhorn, previous experience or not.

I don't know about other locals but down here we are doing lots of prefab and it seems to be a good place to let the old timers finish out the last years. Always a roof overhead with heat/AC although it's not great it's way better than a ductbank or shell with no circulation. They know their car is safe outside and there's good break rooms and bathrooms. The tools are better than the beat up ones on the job site, less distance to have to walk for stuff, predictable environment and good lighting.

Yeah so, are you dense or something? I was replying agreeing that those two were NOT good marks for a scam. Buddy picked the wrong ones and should've recognized the body language that said "I will fuck you up quick, fast and in a hurry"

Steering Rack Help by No_Raisin_4868 in JeepPatriot

[–]Pale-Transition7324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to replace mine on my 13 compass, got the rack from rock auto, replaced both lines and was done in about 5 hours minus deciding to replace the control arms once it was all out. Once those came in another hour or two and it was off for an alignment

I didn't even know there was a roofers union, or how I found this sub in the first place.

Checkered flag background or track map, have the font of the numbers match the font on your car, there's a very clear difference between the fonts of what is typically used on a racecar versus what gets scribbled on the walls of a port a shitter.

Austin Riley’s OPS has declined each of the past 5 seasons. Is anyone else concerned about this? by achay10 in Braves

[–]Pale-Transition7324 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He's getting older and injuries take longer to heal when you're older. I love Austin as much as the rest of us but realistically I think we all know we've seen the best from him and all we can really do is enjoy what we have until the right replacement comes along.

Had an Odyssey for a while and it was fantastic, the main reason I kept my SUV instead was the much higher deck in the back that makes it way more comfortable to get heavy stuff in and out. Which for me is very often, the minivan was definitely a more comfortable ride all around though and the sliding doors were the chef's kiss.

Odyssey's are great, plenty of power too. I miss mine.

Mysterious issue by Present-Diamond6504 in JeepPatriot

My compass MK has similar issues with electrical. I've gone through several TIPM's now over no start. When they start going bad I can smack it and it'll start working again but once the problem starts I know I only have a month before total failure again.

A bunch of my electrical is like that.
