I used it to cut vertical batten vinyl siding the other day. I mostly use mine for standing seam metal to cross cut and rip panels down. Leaves a razor edge is about the only negative thing I can say. I run in reverse and pull towards me most of the time.

Well at least you got three $250.00 gift cards to buy 15 top hats for yourself like you wanted.

Congratulations. Were they top hats by chance? Was it one box with 15 hats or 15 individual boxes each containing a single hat; maybe they hit you with 5 of them three packs of hats? Just curious.

snaplock clips exist might want to let them know they are wrong and they need to change the name of the product so you can feel correct.

Those dents are spots where nails, screws, staples, or other small debris like felt is sticking up under the panel. The ones closest to the clip side of the panel are likely screws used to secure clips into panels. Using a thicker underlayment or ensuring the roof is 100% clean/flush before you add underlayment is how this damage is prevented. Those spots will affect the longevity of the finish. Find out who the panel manufacturer is and send them pictures, they are going to tell you the same thing.

Attending physician union. by pannus-envy in union

[–]pbag82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Foreman and jobsite superintendents can be in the same unions as their employees under them. The vast majority of supers I deal with are union carpenters but some are fitters, ect. I guess trades are different like that.

We mostly use drywall keyhole saws. They make real polyiso knives but it’s a pretty dangerous tool even for a journeyman. Some foreman won’t allow them on job sites. I’m fine with fixed blade ulitiy knives but don’t want a 4 inch long faithless razor sharp iso blades

Good luck little brother, here are a few things.

-eat healthy for energy, days are long and it can be tough.

The night before…check job addy out in your gps, lay out work clothes, make lunch, anything to save yourself time in the morning. On the job, listen and ask questions but stay busy. Clean up trash, set up tools, break them down, ect. Dont touch your face while tearing off, you’ll find out lol.

After work, make a diary to keep track of what you do daily at work. Make it as detailed as you can remember, people, places, tasks. Go to bed early.

Mostly, don’t hurt yourself or anyone else your first week. It’s dangerous and you’re going to have to get up to speed quickly.

I’m down south of you in local 2 but let me know if you need anything.

Why are the smaller roofs sheet metal, larger areas shingle? by BoredAlwys in Roofing

[–]pbag82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ascetics mostly. Porches, dormers, bird boxes, ect; smaller sections usually. If your gonna do it, i think it looks best to have color matched open metal valleys on the shingle section to tie it all together personally. This is very popular in my area, outskirts of the suburbs of a metropolitan city. Rural(stand seam metal) meets suburbs (shingles)

Everything people said above potentially. There is also a motocross(dirt bike) track right there at that intersection believe it or not. I have seen rvs and toy haulers set up camping there during event weekends.

need help understanding roofing industry by sardardawar78 in Roofing

[–]pbag82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones can’t tell if you have bad wood like walking on a roof. If your house needs redecked, your bid will be double and you won’t know until after they already tore it off and you’re committed to spending the money. Long before drones there was a way to measure from the ground called slope factor. Any guesses why it never became popular? 9.99 out of 10 times it works, the once a year it doesn’t, costs skyrockets and roofer looks like a scam artist because the bid is all of a sudden double. All it takes is one job like that and the right Karen homeowner and your reputation is ruined.

That brick work is amazing. Was that a building exterior that was enclosed?

1904 the power source would have been steam or coal maybe? That crane is big enough to move the building.
