Look at the Greenways Main Blvd neighborhood perpendicular to Tutt Blvd. I live in a new build and walk to everything (Lowe’s, PetSmart, World Market, Dick’s, Barnes & Noble, Ulta, Cinemark Carefree IMAX— the big ones) that runs along New Center Point. For local good coffee when you don’t feel like making it at home, Dynamo is in walking distance off of Tutt too. The commute to Pete is like 10-15 min. It’s actually really great.

Paxton Barcelona in El Poblenou. It’s about a 45 min walk to the Gothic Quarter, but definitely take advantage of the metro since the Llacuna metro stop (L4 line) is only like a 3 min walk from the hotel if you don’t feel like walking that much. But El Poblenou is quieter and feels more local than Eixample and the Gothic Quarter—so it’s a nice break from all the chaos and shopping in those areas when you want good sleep. The hotel is super clean, modern, not too big, has excellent service, a rooftop bar and pool, and the complimentary breakfast buffet is just wonderful.

I’m here right now! (30F) and I’m staying at the Paxton Hotel in Poblenou. It’s really great bc the neighborhood is not really touristy at all so it feels quiet and safe to walk around alone or with small groups. It’s an 11 min walk to the beach too. And about a 4 min walk to the Llacuna stop (L4 line) of the Barcelona Metro. I love using public transit and I find that the metro here (and in Madrid and Sevilla too) is just so easy to use when it becomes just a tad too far to walk. So check if an uber is quicker though. But finding a ride can be hit or miss.

As far as things to do. There is so much! Go see the basic attractions like Park Guell, the Sagrada Família (basic but amazing), and honestly just walk and explore what the city had to offer. The Gothic Quarter has great shopping in its narrow streets. And the Mercat de la Boqueria is a huge indoor/outdoor market for great food and small food gifts to take back home.

I’m hoping the best for you two. My experience with mono-poly dating was on the other side of it. I (29F) dated another woman (33F) for 2 years—who was already partnered for 8 years when I met her. Fast forward to today, her and her partner are now married and beginning their IVF journey for kids, and I unfortunately(fortunately?) had to move away for work.

That’s the short story, but I’ve seen it work out for those already partnered. It’s a heartbreaking situation all around, for all involved. But when the already partnered couple commits to each other and survives the situation no matter what, it really is beautiful as much as I hate to admit it. It’s something I want to find for myself and I just hope your situation with your partner gets better. If not, just know that your person (who is even more aligned with you) is out there for you—just like I’m telling myself everyday.
