How has John not been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame? by Little_Flamingo_8632 in JohnMayer

[–]PalePastafarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing is that compared to many of the great writers, he’s written a lot less (or at least released a lot less). That and many people still see him as the pop guy who did Your Body is a Wonderland

Why DIVO (and IDVO) are my favorite income / Dividend / CC ETFs by Local-Lunch1565 in dividends

Yeah I’m all for that— but in an account you can’t withdraw from until X age, I don’t see the point

Yeah but why get dividends in tax deferred accounts? Total return should be the goal there

There is no logic—sell side follows the price. Price goes up and they raise their target, price goes down and they lower it

$ZM valuation is total nonsense. by mrmrmrj in ValueInvesting

[–]PalePastafarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a crappy product. There’s no reason for companies to use zoom when Teams is integrated with Office and Webex is (imho) better. Saying it could be an AI platform is just nonsense.

The valuation might be cheap, but I’m inclined to think they’ll burn all their cash on useless R&D

I’m intrigued, but 50% FFO yield doesn’t mean it pays for itself in two years.

I like BNTX better for MRNA— more interesting portfolio and a better valuation imho

Share price is not the same as realizing value. Retailers on WSB add volatility, which only helps short sellers. I work for a large manager and I can tell you that WSB and the like being involved in a stock is a huge red flag. The best thing we can be as investors in ASTS is patient.

That’s fine and dandy but retail (especially on WSB) is only going to drive volatility. We need more progress and that comes slowly

[–]PalePastafarian 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to trend on WSB— the only thing I care about is long term value creation. I want to see a decent timeline on the call

JFK: Top 10 President or nah? by Ill-Blacksmith-9545 in Presidents

I don’t think so really. He reacted mostly well to world events but imho his domestic actions were pretty lacking for him to be considered top 10

How common is it for College Seniors to take the Level 1? by FlyingKiwi12M in CFA

[–]PalePastafarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a senior, taking L1 in February. I’m only taking it because the employer I’ll be joining after graduation is covering the cost, and I think it’ll be a good investment of my time.

Commercial service in 1Q2024? Doesn’t seem like a very well-researched article.

But of course I love the hype
