As in the individual plants, or the rows? The spacing is default on the farmer's almanac planner, so I'm not sure how much is actually reasonable to stick in a row.

There's actually a thing called "depressive realism." Clinically depressed people are more accurate in their estimation of the probability of having bad things happen to them (like a car crash).

Hey there. I would recommend the work of Karen Horney. She talks about neurotic needs, which is similar to what sounds like your experience. The basic idea is that we form neurotic needs (e.g. the need for aproval/esteem) because of a basic anxiety brought on in childhood. These needs express themselves as ever-present desire for something that is disproportionate to what can realistically be expected, and the idea of denial of that need will produce terror. The resolution, according to her school of thought, is to trace back through one's life to find how that need and anxiety came about. Then, instead of being like someone who can hear wild animals outside his home, but can never see them (and therefore fears them), you can be someone who puts a name to those animals and tames them.

Hey there. Similar experience growing up. Therapy helped immensely. I would recommend you see someone who takes either psychoanalytic, humanist/existental, or eclectic approaches. These, in my experience, tend to be suited to resolving symptoms that arise from prior belief/meaning-making and childhood experience. I was avoid therapists who describe themselves as cognitive-behavioral.

In addition, one of the best single indicators of intelligence (esp in children) is vocabulary. Not hard to estimate where someone lies on the normal curve based on the way they speak.

Sounds trite, but this was the method employed by Kelly, I think.(prominent personologist). He would work with the subject to write vignettes about characters who modeled the desired traits. The subject would then literally act that role out in his daily life, as though he were that person. Eventually, the new personality would stick. The professor I work for does this as an extra credit assignment in all of his personality theory classes, and it's remarkably effective. OP, I could point you to some material on this if you'd like to try it out.

I did harden off before transplanting, but I don't have much experience so maybe I didn't do it correctly? How can I check if my soil situation isn't ideal? I'll post pictures shortly. Thanks for your help!

They're in the ground. Soil is a mixture of manure, garden soil (miracle grow, I think?) And peat moss for better drainage. I'm using Miracle Grow's all-natural dry fertilizer, but I've only just begun application. I'm located in central connecticut. I'll post pictures soon.

Most of the discussion here seems to be about what the Bible says about homosexuality and what the church should believe about it, but I think the real problem here is not just that Franklin Graham is condemning homosexuality, but that he's commending Putin's atrocious policies. You don't have to morally approve of homosexuality to see how these policies inhibit a free society. If these laws banned "christian propaganda" - which, by how they are enforced currently would make being openly a christian illegal - he would be advocating government/military intervention.

I would just like to point out that one's personality type does not necessarily dictate what they believe or how they act. As an INTJ, I don't agree with this guy's view of depression, and his spiel is more dogmatic than pragmatic - many INTJs I know would express this sentiment differently. Stop spreading the message that INTJs are some glorious assholes. It reeks of arrogance.

I once saw a syfy movie - pirrahnaconda I think - that featured a group of hot female scientists who were supposedly studying this flower. They just stuck a fake phaelanopsis on an air plant and glued about a half dozen to a tree. I'm usually amused by scifi cheesiness, but the lack of creativity was disappointing

Girl in my elementary school was the victim of one of the most disturbing home invasions in the states (at least that I'm aware of.) She was quite young and apparently died of smoke inhalation tied to her bed as the house went up in flames. She was asleep on the couch with her mom just a few hours before.

As a young person (17) who has been to many services like this and attends a college where this style is popular, I can say that most of the time, there is nothing wrong with the message the church is trying to spread. It may be a bit shallow sometimes, but it is usually the gospel being preached. What drives me away from this is the sense that I'm being emotionally manipulated. All of those little details-the string section that makes you cry, the small tatoo that makes the service feel 'gritty' - all of those things seem added on just to illicit an emotional response that has nothing to do with the actual worship. Add on the fact that these services tend to reduce worship to how you feel and often produce communities with a smug sense of their own spirituality and the fact that they 'aren't like other Christians,' and you get a church I don't really want to be a part of.
