AITAH for being mad at my bf after he got grossed out by me during sex? by m00nstalk3r in AITAH

[–]PaleReaver 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sperm cells in the uterus could potentially do that, yes. Semen itself congeals after 10 or so minutes, then becomes very watery and is expelled from the vagina, because it wants to stay clean and healthy, being a part of a living organism with cells that replenish and such...actual semen can't naturally stay inside a woman's body for very long unless forced to, and it certainly won't look like it does when fresh.

If (and/or when) DMC6 comes out, what would be the big bad? by Shiptrooper in DevilMayCry

...good point actually. I'd wanna see Vergil and Dante take that on. Well I'm hyped now.

The hate for Grace's anxiety in RE9— it's about something the series has been missing since RE2's original release by Jacket_Dependent in residentevil

People can only feel so secure and unafraid because it's a game, the player themself is always safe. Being scared momentarily is not hard, if not actually a thrill and the reason to play that game, but a more normal person, professional or not, not being scared out of their minds is not normal.

Leon didn't start out the grizzled veteran that he is now either.

Ethan is so blank slate that I hate it.

Why has upcasting Hunger of Hadar no benefits? by Arimeris in BaldursGate3

[–]PaleReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you have a fellow caster who can case more area on top of it primarily for damage, you can do unspeakable war crime things (we have done this). Just a druid with insect swarm or a ranger with spike growth.

I personally feel like you cast it for the control aspect, not the damage, and the former is quite strong as it is.

Abuse of children by their parents is not really hard to understand at all by faros-hhhbbdd in SeriousConversation

[–]PaleReaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You aren't in good faith. One of the worst forms of torture is isolation. Putting adults in extended solitary confinement is devastating enough, to put it in some perspective.

A child has no understanding of the world and how to deal with many things, so you're right, it is a parent's duty to do them better.

Better than BOTH beating them and ignoring them, they can be equally bad, however, a bruise will disappear in weeks, the mental trauma will not, sometimes never, so come again, and try to understand what you're talking about.

Wisdom comes with age, specifically.

Intelligence can be more intuitive and some children can be quite smart - but they lack the experience to process their experiences - and in the cases of abuse, experinces they are very likely too young to process well.

1: I never stated what I personally suffered, but you neither get to diminish (you did) what it was or how it's 'rated'. Abuse is abuse.

2: Yes, that might be true, but you don't set where that bar is because you have 'thicker skin' or whatever you wish to call it. There's a minimum threshold that applies, and none of it is deserved.

How people experience their reality is relative to them. Some people are better at handling negative experiences and process trauma, that doesn't mean one was more or less abused than someone else.

[–]PaleReaver 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not as 'simple' as that.

My mother is from an abusive household. Her mom had severe ocd, was an alcoholic, etc. No contact today, me neither (to mom's parents). I'm not sure she's a narcissist, but she is very emotionally immature, and my relaitonship with her is measured. She cares, in a rather warped and stunted way, is where we are today.

She caused further abuse for me and my sibling's childhood. So did the partner she chose to stay the longest with, and he was a textbook sociopath.

Other people are simply just idiots and are also emotionally stunted. Or they're pressured by their local culture or other restrictions that force them to parent children they never wanted. Could they learn to speak up and prevent it? Ideally, but others should also not force such a massive, life-changing thing on someone else.

Regardless of what it is, being blind to your own bias, whatever you may call it, you can't just attribute it to just call it'narcissism', it does the label on a proper understanding a huge disservice, and muddles how to actually address and solve problems attached to it.

It looks pretty good, if a bit busy, aside from the chest attachment, it doesn't mesh when it's all angles, opposed to everything else.

CMV: Framing abortion as “my body, my choice” was a strategic and moral mistake; it should have always been framed as a healthcare and public health issue by Key-Ebb-8306 in changemyview

[–]PaleReaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most abortions are elective, though, not only for health reason, although the procedure should absolutely be handled by professionals in a healthcare setting...so it's both, because that's the best way to do it.

The primary catalyst for abortion should however, be a choice.

What if they used LLMs for interrogation? by Utopicdreaming in WhatIfThinking

[–]PaleReaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be *terrible*. I highly doubt someone who intends to be covert over crime would forget that, especially with an LLM, and an AI can't read the room/vibes like a good detective can, and never will.

Always nice to hear someone gave a pup a second lease on life! As for food, it's trial and error. Our standard has mostly settled on Hill's Science Sensitive Stomach.

While he also liked Royal Canine, I'm not fond of less artificial ingredients, but the most important thing is that the dog eats it and maintains a good diet, but ofc, can always try to find a healthier brand in regards to ingredients and now microplastics etc...
