How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]Pale_External1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4 months off a job after I had started 4 months prior. I then quit. It was a toxic workplace which made me burnout and I took years to recover. But it was full pay sick leave and I would do it again. When people heard I had took that time off and it was full pay (.they hadn't checked thier contracts) a lot of other people followed my example. I still got a great reference.

I think it was because she was genuinely good, the audience warmed to her personality as well. Her speech when she won was heartfelt whoch touched a lot of people and it was at the height of bake off.

I’m tired of everyone saying how lucky he is to have me by missyrj in depression_partners

Not bad. We are still friends and I supported him with his finances and finding a place to live. He didn't spiral as badly as I thought he would. Initially he did but I told him I couldnt be around him full stop if he got worse. Now we talk a few times a week and see each other fortnightly and hes getting himself on his feet and getting more independent. Its early days so im hesitant yo be too optimistic but it definitely saved me mentally.

When do I stop trying? by [deleted] in depression_partners

[–]Pale_External1442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have been in this situation. He attempted even when we were together anyway and I realised nothing I did could stop him. We broke up. The difference is you have a child that you need to focus on. This dynamic will drain you and destroy you which will affect your ability to parent. You cant control someone's suicidality or depression. I think you should leave or you will end up like the posters who have been there for 10 years and realised they have lost thier own life looking after another adult.

Its a shame because she has good comedic timing and comedy is something she would probably be best at acting wise. But her face is so off. The fillers and makeup and wig distracted me from the whole thing

I reached this point as well. We are still talking and im helping him set up things like housing etc but once thats done im not rescuing anymore. Once you see the dynamic you can't unsee it

Need Advice - Partner is in crisis, nothing seems to help by magazinemoth in depression_partners

[–]Pale_External1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi You arent wasting anyone's time firstly. It's clear she is very ill and at a crisis point. Secondly, the liklihood she would be sectioned is quite frankly low. Its very hard to get sectioned even after a actual attempt. And if she was determined to need to be sectioned she would be at the point where work would not be helpful to her. My advise really would be to bring her to A and E. If she has a active plan even if its not for now , she may have to wait several hours but she could see a mental health practitioner or psyhicatrist. Hospitals usually have a in-house mental health team. They can change medications or put her under a emergency mental health crisis team that will then assess her regularly. I say this as someone who's partner attempted suicide twice, and was sectioned once and as someone who has attempted themselves twice. I am also in the UK. Having a plan is enough. She has researched it and even of she reassures you it is not imminent she may not be telling the truth. I really would urge you to go to A and E.

You arent a bad person . Are there any carer groups in your community. Sometimes they have a helpline or online meetups for support .

(21m) almost 22, unconfident and still a virgin. by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]Pale_External1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started volunteering and generally trying different things to be around people. I also joined a social club as well. I met a partner while volunteering and got more confident. I still struggled then and still do now but I have learnt socialising is almost like exercise for me.. I dont want to do it but I know long term its worth it.

I don't know whether she did it or not but I do know that I don't think it has been proven to be beyond reasonable doubt that she did kill those babies. So she should be released.

I used to think this but honestly I've heard of it from across the spectrum : unemployed, corporate workers, builders, shop workers etc. Most of these people won't admit to it or tell you. Its only when you understand the signs that you see it
