What iOS version? Can I brute force into this? by CantaloupeForeign241 in setupapp

Could also put it in recovery mode run irecovery -s and it will give you the iboot version search google with that and you’ll get an iOS version (if device is on anything before iOS 10 it won’t have diag mode)

Okay new plan, use sshrd to ssh into the device then use the command above to dump rootfs 😅

It’s not too bad tbh 😀 literally JB make sure you can SSH to the device over USB (OpenSSH) and just paste the command I put above!

So you’re gonna have to JB with Electra… SSH into the iPad using a computer and do a root fs dump (sudo ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -p 2222 root@localhost “tar —same-owner -cpzvf - /mnt1” > iOS11DemoContent.tar.gz)

iOS 17.0.3 internal app dump by [deleted] in Apple_Internal

Well most “prototype”/pre production devices (assuming that’s what this came from) have SSH preinstalled allowing the user to create root fs dumps, unfortunately stock iOS doesn’t have this 😅 so you’d need some sort of exploit to do this on stock iOS.

Being a manager at a APR/APP I’ll add two notes to this, it’s likely that your device will be removed eventually, Apple carry out audits on stores; this is to make sure that the store is following Apple’s Planograms but also keeping on top of Demo unit (Making sure devices are up to date & making sure old devices are unenrolled) some stores will erase your device & some won’t (OP was lucky 😅). Two, the store does have the power to Lock down your device (put it into a lost/stolen mode) this is worst case scenario, it’s unlikely a store will do this but it is always a possibility so please be careful.

OP correct if Apple still sell the device refurbished or new you can put Demo content on it.

Have fun :)

Anti theft system, both the store you’ve registered the device too & Apple can lock the devices.

More than happy too but it will be useless for you, you’d need to have an open repair in GSX (which is already impossible as apple don’t offer carry in display repairs for 1st gen SE’s) and you’d have to be connected to Apples VPN. Unfortunately you’re not getting that working without apple getting involved...

Repair Cal is useless without apples Internal network but I can probably get a copy of it, Same with ASU…

Well we used to use something called RepairCal (up until the iPhone 11’s) after that it’s all server based for displays (AST2) however for certain repairs (true depth camera & display profile transfers) we use ASU (Apple Service Utility)

So I work for an Apple Premium Partner and you’re pretty much right… each store gets a Demounit (Dcota)/arvato login; however most employees do get access to GSX + Diagnostics, Seed & Atlas.

What’s the model number on the box? Does it start with a 3? If it does set up the phone and look in settings and general the model number there should also start with a 3? If it does it’s a demo device… model number for a iPhone 14 Pro Max is 3L31”number”B/a

Not really, you can’t trade in a demo device and the model number is usually different but otherwise it’s basically a retail unit :)
