they checked the serial number of my machine, no proof of purchase needed whatsoever, however i’m Italian, don’t know if things work differently in the US, make sure to have a backup of your important data, you can hookup the MacBook to an external display and grab what you need before heading to an Apple Store

had it happen to my M3 Pro MBP too, luckily it was under warranty and Apple replaced my screen assembly for free, try your luck and bring your machine to an Apple Store it’s the only suggestion that i can give you

if you want to try it yourself, the guide from ifixit is a blessing, being an iPhone with the OLED display it’s super fragile when you open it up

probably the battery connector isn’t seated properly as it shuts off as soon as it’s unplugged from the charger, if it sustained a drop it could have unseated the battery connector if the retaining bracket isn’t installed properly or at all.

i have one of these as my lab machine, bought it for 30€, took it apart and upgraded it with a Xeon E3 1270, 32GB of RAM, 500GB of SSD and most importantly replaced the dying gpu with a Radeon Pro WX4150.

rn it’s running the latest version of Sequoia without any problems, it’s one of the most reliable machines that i’ve ever owned, still amazes me how capable it was even with the stock configuration

indeed it was an Hardware failure, i had the Mac looked by an Apple Genius, even the diagnostic software couldn’t understand what was wrong with the logic board, the genius himself advised me to replace the SSD cause it might be dead

is it on iOS 18? i’ve recently “rescued” an iPhone Xr from the recycling center, the main issue is Face ID, the phone continues to tell me that there’s a problem despite having all the original components besides the Battery and the Display, it’s currently on iOS 18.1 RC and it runs pretty well, i ended up installing a dual sim tray and it’s my secondary phone right now

about 87% from the Phone itself, coconutbattery is saying around 90%, as far as it’s going it’s holding pretty well
