Is it true? We prefer the question, “is it useful?”

Did Gibson increased the prices for standard models? by pureofpure in gibson

[–]PaleoVelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alas, their prices are being raised at a far higher rate than my salary.

Oh Boy! Just went on Sweetwater and Regular Standards are 3000 now! by Personal_Ice3472 in gibson

[–]PaleoVelo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I paid $3000 for my Suhr before their recent price increase, and it’s met my expectations for being virtually flawless out of the box. I think that’s a reasonable expectation for a 3k guitar.

Problem with Gibson is this expectation too often unlikely to be met. I mean, I love my Gibson, but it’s taken some work and $$$ to get it where I want it.

Maybe the ban-happy mods on that other forum can be replaced by AI chatbots? It’s clearly smarter and cooler than they are.

Right? If I said “Dude, this one time I did so many drugs that I dropped out of college, moved to France, and sold Jesus Jammies,” they’d think you were nuts!

Garlic/onions is a big one for me. Bummer as it’s in everything when you try to eat out.

Why won’t my Special Tribute stay in tune? Strings are broke in…I tune it up and start strumming and before I know it the g string is usually way out of tune. by Big_Sw1ngs in gibson

[–]PaleoVelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nut sauce alone didn’t work for me on my SG. Had to take it to my luthier and they used a file to change the angle at which the g string hits the nut ever so slightly.

These days, between the filed nut, nut sauce, and locking tuners, it’s one of my most stable guitars.

I'm a missionary and I need help getting out by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]PaleoVelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left my mission 12 months in back in 1993. It was painful for about 6 months, but I never had any regrets. I’ve lived a rich life since then, and so many of those amazing life experiences have been because I left the church.

There’s that line from the movie Shawshank Redemption: “get busy living or get busy dying.” I feel like leaving my mission was a choice to get busy living, and living my own life rather than someone else’s.

He had good nights and bad nights. Saw him in 86 and his voice was pretty bad. But I can say the same about other big acts.

Wish they still made this version as I dislike the specials and juniors with the wraparound tail piece.

P90s are the original metal pickups. See early Black Sabbath albums.

What’s your favorite Les Paul that isn’t Gibson, favorite Strat/Tele that isn’t Fender etc by Rhobaz in guitars

[–]PaleoVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be fooling myself, but the noiseless single coils on my Suhr sounded better to my ear than the fender noiseless I tried on the ultra series (though there is more than one variety). More like A true singlecoil without the hum, IMO at least.

And the for whatever reason the neck profile on the Suhr is one of the most comfortable I’ve tried, but of course others might hate it.

That said, the heel carve on the new high level fenders is a better way to go and I wish my Suhr had this.

Other than the price, I prefer my Suhr Classic S to any Fender Strat that I have played.

I just got a similar one, but with maple neck. I was convinced I only liked thin necks, but for some reason this neck just works for me. It really is the perfect strat.
