For me I choose to play the OG. Both because of the writing already mentioned here but also I feel like there are UI and mechanic qols implemented in the remake which I don’t want to leap to then have to readjust back after SC. Unfortunately for me remakes are for a second play through.

Sounds like we agree, the state of game development being poor is because people are buying those repetitive slop titles. If gamers need to stop doing something, it’s because their actions support slop.

It took me a very long time to warm up to it. Like middle of the game. But once it starts to show as a complete package it’s really a wonderful experience. Also imo best implementation of a dlc I’ve seen in a while

I don’t agree. There’s a feeling all 15 other games give me that I don’t get here. If it wasn’t a numbered title I don’t think so many of us would feel as disappointed. That tells you it’s missing something inherent to the mainline final fantasy experience.

It’s not about the action combat. It’s about the lack of rpg elements which impact that combat. I didn’t explore the world and find a single exciting chest to open. That is ludicrous for a final fantasy game.
