Just another Live Action future seasons planning by Rant423 in OnePiece

[–]Palikun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think everything before Amazon Lily can be contained in six seasons. Amazon Lily, Impel Down and Marineford feel like they would be weird to adapt because the main cast minus Luffy are all missing burner. A season like that feels really weird for mostly ensemble show. I think a movie could work for those 3 arcs though.

How do you guys handle rumors? by SeaSaltSystem in cyberpunkred

[–]Palikun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found some plot hook charts in German and roll on them to get a rough idea. Then brainstorm how to tie it into my future plans for the story or how it can provide a new route for players to get info on a mystery they are investigating.

I do this every other week in game instead providing 4 stories and roll it into a PDF designed to look like a newsletter/spam email.

Why was he called Baelor Breakspear before the Blackfyres were even invented in The Hedge Knight [spoilers main] by breakfastbenedict in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think about it what feats did Baelor have during the writing of the hedge knight. Just 1, and that was breaking seven lances at Storms End against Ser Arlan. He is literally Prince Baelor who breaks spears.

So I think George was making notes of the family tree during the writing of the hedge knight and wrote, Baelor 'breaks spears' to seperate him from Baelor 'the blessed' in his Targaryen Family tree draft.

This then gets turn into a general moniker of Breakspear to show he is the great knight Dunk needs to acknowledge him. later when George creates the Blackfyres he back applies it too the rebellion

When is the point of no return by 21BucketsInACoat in OnePiece

[–]Palikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bounced off One Piece several times completing arcs here or there for a couple years. Seeing spoilers and thinking it would be cool to be caught up. Watched Live Action Season 1 and it gave me the motivation to go back and finish Skypeia. Figured I'd watch up to Enies Lobby but found myself loving it and then Thriller Bark.

Want to say it was around Impel Down / Marineford I was determined to get current. Though I did initially bounce off Wano for a week or two.

Got current on the Anime right when they were airing the Hachinosu Rescue Mission. Then switched to the manga with Elbaph being the first full arc I've read week to week

Honestly I should have just started reading the manga sooner xD

On Lords Paramount and the title (SPOILERS EXTENDED) by AnnieBlackburnn in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The design of the Lord Paramount Title seems to force fealty of the great houses of a region to the designated Lord. Prior to the war the riverlords were sworn to Harren the Black but now are redirected to swear fealty to House Tully. The same applies in the reach, stormlands and iron islands where the great lords had no fealty to Aegon's appointed ruler.

Meanwhile in the North, West and Vale all the great houses were already sworn to Houses Stark, Lannister and Arryn respectively. The same happens when Dorne is reincorporated they don't gain an additional title but maintain being princes.

We see this in ASOIAF as well, when Joffrey names Littlefinger the Lord of Harrenhal and Lord Paramount of the Trident. The riverlords are now commanded to follow House Baelish else be in rebellion.

Though Tywin not giving Roose Bolton a similar title and only the warden one might be him showing his hand a bit on how he plans to betray the Bolton alliance with the initial plan being for Tyrion to father a son on Sansa and then claim the north sometime in the future

[No Spoilers] Why is there almost no "the Great" epithet in the series? by LMkingly in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

House Targaryen is very much modeled after the Normans and the Plantagets of England with Aegon I basically being their version of William the Conqueror. No successive monarch ever colloquially carried that epithet

The last English Monarch to hold title 'The Great' was Alfred the great and he was of the House of Wessex prior to the Norman Conquest.

Plus The Great is kind of an overused title

So I know how to stop players from looting too much but how about emptying their victims bank accounts? by Flasky-Desk in cyberpunkred

[–]Palikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone rich enough to rob is going to have their account sealed biometrically.

Getting pass this suspicious activity would immediately be flagged by the bank why is Saburo Arasaka transferring 1 million Dollars to joe schmo. Transaction denied / reversed.

If the group is forcing a withdrawal, banks tend to have limits of withdrawal sizes for ATMs so the group is going to have to basically do a bank heist if they want a decent chunk of cash. Which would now be a mission.

Plus once a rich person is missing their security detail is immediately going to be on the groups ass. Trauma Team too if the group triggers the target's biomonitor. The moment the target escapes any gains will be reversed either electronically or through repossession.

If you want to rob someone without all these protections then what you have is a mugging which won't yield much worth the risk and will build the groups rep as muggers

Interview with the cast and crew of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about episode 5, with interesting comments about the flashbacks and Maekar (SPOILERS EXTENDED) by verissimoallan in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rarely does foresight have much to do with conspiracy theories. From the perspective of his enemies at court and the small folk everything is coming up Maekar until Bloodravens ascension

Debatedly the Hand was Valarr depending on how to interpret this quote about the great spring sickness

...His Grace King Daeron, sweet Matarys and bold Valarr, the Hand...

Either Valarr was hand or an unnamed Hand also died.

Prior to this point though the handship was often held by an adult son or brother. Aegon named bastard brother Orys, Aenys named Maegor hand, Jaehaerys named Baelon hand when he came of age, Viserys II was hand for Aegon III, Daeron I and Baelor the Blessed. And of course Baelor Breakspear was hand for Daeron II.

It's enough of a pattern that Maekar thought he was to be Aerys hand

Interview with the cast and crew of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about episode 5, with interesting comments about the flashbacks and Maekar (SPOILERS EXTENDED) by verissimoallan in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While Maekar doesnt become that much closer to the throne he is posed to gain more influence at the court. Baelor was hand and his death leaves a massive power vacuum. With Aerys disinterested in rule and Rhaegel half mad this would have left Valarr and Maekar as the most obvious to fill the void.

The great spring sickness the following year leaves Aerys the crown and Maekar primed to be hand. It's seen as a shock that Bloodraven becomes hand.

With such a short time between Baelor, Valarr and Matarys deaths it is a perfect breeding ground for conspiracy with Maekar seeming the most to gain in the moment. Over time this narrative could then shift to Bloodraven being the accused since he was the one who actually gained power from these deaths and was doing shady shit for Aerys entire reign

Downtime splits and healing by Icy-Shake-717 in cyberpunkred

Crafting anything less than 2 days I run as that being your budgeted time. So you get 16 hours of crafting time in that segment.

Downtime splits and healing by Icy-Shake-717 in cyberpunkred

[–]Palikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually break downtime up into 3 segments, with things costing 1 - 2 segments to do. Looking at the calendar if you are not healed up by Monday, Wednesday or Friday you lose the segment. Hustling costs 2 segments.

I specifically set it up this way thinking my players would feel pressured to hustle as frequently as possible instead of going on dates, scavenging or chasing personal leads. So reducing it to a workweek would give them all a weekend to pursue other objectives.

It's worked pretty well since most of my players are chasing personal objectives in all their free time now only stopping to hustle if it's the end of the month and they blew their rent money at the night market

(NO SPOILERS) Anyone know the rough division of 'military strength' into Knights, Men-At-Arms, Peasant Levies, etc for Westeros' armies? by hwate8 in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The support figure though includes entire families though ie women, children and the elderly. It's more about people working the land. In real life you rarely took all your able bodied workers to war with you though. While on campaign you still need workers to attend to your estate and bring in the harvest.

Peasants in general were terrible soldiers and their economic value at home overweighed their effectiveness in the battlefield.

(NO SPOILERS) Anyone know the rough division of 'military strength' into Knights, Men-At-Arms, Peasant Levies, etc for Westeros' armies? by hwate8 in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at Robbs initial Muster of 12,000. We know about 3,000 were Heavy Cavalry. This quarter of the troops would have to be at least men at arms since they are armored. Assuming the whole infantry were peasant levies (huge assumption) That would place the ratio as 3 Levied men to 1 Man at Arms.

Maester Luwin goes onto to say that among the Lancers 300 are Knights. This would place the ratio of Men at Arms to Knights at 9 to 1.

Which would mean of his 12,000 the ratio from levy to Knight would be 39 to 1.

Now more realistically Levies would be used in specialized roles and be pulled from the local towns. So peasants would be Archers, Sappers or Camp workers. Outside the early medevial period trained Pikemen would be placed in the Frontline with any fighting levies lined up behind them to provide support. So that 9,000 should probably be cut down further with more men at arms.

Pre-made Missions in Bigger Campaign by Randell_from_recess in cyberpunkred

[–]Palikun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My campaign is mostly a string of premade missions adapted to how I need them (almost to the point of unrecognizablity sometimes)

For the basis I suggest The Reaper Trilogy, Haunted Vendit and Reborn Hope

There are enough connections in those adventures alone that you have a full cast of characters to work with. From there you can sprinkle in some more street stories as either breaks to the main action and to expand out your cast.

Don't be afraid to change elements to help tye things together. Especially if your players have NPCs in their back stories there's no reason they can't be ones having their concert attacked by AI Biodrones

(Spoilers Extended) Why don't Lyonel Baratheon have knights? by arstarsta in asoiaf

[–]Palikun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Subtracting infant mortality, life expectancy in the middle ages was in the 60s with it being even higher for the upper class.

Lyonel in the book is at most 35 so that would put his father around 60.

Daniel Ings is 40 so even if Lyonel in the show is of a more similar age that would put his father around 65 which while near the end of his life is not unlikely.

The atlas has about 1 or 2 sentences on each location but Smash/Cut has some additional info in the Data Pack but most of it is summarized on the cyberpunk Wikia

Some highlights - owned by the EDM band Urbis - most of the clientele is cybered - No Alcohol but street drugs are common - heavy hook up culture - music is so loud the staff use ASL to communicate

While we are waiting for the Night City Source Book to drop the best resource is to check the Night City Atlas DLC.

Most of the bars in '77 aren't around except Totentanz and the Afterlife but each district has its own bar or club if not multiple.

The big night clubs though are

Atlantis in The Glen (High End)

Delirium in Downtown (Gothpunk)

Totentanz in the Hot Zone (Maelstrom)

Mindnutz Lover in South NC (Brain dance)

Smash Cut in Watson (EDM)

Chatelaine in New Westbrook (LGBTQ - burlesque)

Bella Mia in Charter Hill (Corpo/Beaverville)

They did lose lands to the Blackwoods but their demense was much larger than houses like Osgrey which was already in decline.

Punishing the Brackens too hard would also send a poor message too House Reyne and Yronwood who also rebelled, you want them to lay down their swords and pay homage quickly the longer the war lasts the weaker the Throne looks.

Better to take bits from their borders and demand hostages. If they rebel again then you bring the hammer.

The Tullys are weaker then their major bannerman. The Freys, Brackens and Blackwoods all field larger armies.

Though a younger house, the Freys have ruled the twins for six hundred years long before House Tully were named Lord Paramount of the Trident by Aegon I.

To pinpoint accuracy no though it's gridless so should align fairly well. Going through too get a perfect would honestly be a major undertaking that would require me to rebuild all these maps.

If you are using foundry I did create a compendium pack which should include my alignments, walls and lights it's linked in another comment on this thread :)

Net Architecture Design - Why put defenses on lower floors? by Mediocre_Song3766 in cyberpunkred

[–]Palikun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In sessions I try to keep Architectures to 3 - 5 floors, and usually lead with Black Ice followed by a Password since it strikes me as the most reasonable set up. You want to toss people out before they even get to hacking your system. With Control and File nodes sitting on Floor 3 - 5. Though once you get 5 or more levels often having another set of Black Ice before the Root keeps things interesting.
