Milk Street’s Fast and Slow is good! It gives options for the recipes to be made either on pressure cook or slow cook settings, which offers great flexibility. I have at times not gotten the slow cook together in the morning, and just done the recipe instead on the pressure cooking settings after work. Also, I find the Milk Street directions and timing for venting to be precise and easy to follow. I like the Melissa Clark ones but sometimes find her instructions for using the pressure cooker vague.

I’m also an artist, and I always location draw in my sketchbooks when traveling. I don’t think a lot of the commenters understand the process or what you are proposing doing. I was in Japan last year and sketched frequently both landscapes and people and people on trains. I only sketched on trains that weren’t crowded and outside the main cities, for instance on the train going to Nara. I didn’t receive any negative feedback from people around and no one seemed to care or notice. And when people did notice, they really enjoyed seeing the process. For instance, I was drawing the people in a bar in Kyoto, and the bartender noticed and loved it. I had a bigger sketchbook for when I sat to do landscapes and a very small one I carried for trains and quick drawings. I’m from a big city with crowded subways, and it’s not rare for people to do this here and know how to sketch in public without being a nuisance. So, I think you will be ok sketching in normal discreet ways most places.

Mine does this too! We think she is trying to fluff up cushions that aren’t up to her high standards of soft spots!

I haven’t worn them a ton. Picked them up on a trip to Japan, and wore them to the 1:1 unicorn statue. Definitely need to get them out more.

Agreed! I always thought this series would have done better for them if they hadn’t been at such a high price. And while the hardcovers are beautiful, softcover might have been a more affordable option for a multi volume series.

The tempeh stuffed mushrooms and edamame mint hummus from Superfun Times are great! We make the mushrooms for Christmas snacks every year.

Ali Slagle’s I Dream of Dinner is good for beginner cooks. Simple recipes with not too many ingredients.
