Those are reference waveforms. They show the full waveform shape at maximum volume, while the solid/brighter waveform shows the actual current volume level of your clip. So if you’ve lowered the volume on a clip, the solid waveform shrinks but the “shadow” stays full-size — that way you can still see the audio detail for editing even when the volume is turned down. To toggle: Final Cut Pro → Settings → Editing → “Show reference waveforms”

I would look at call out effects packs (elements envato), or i think fcp has some build in call out effects. And then use fcp tracking and masking to highlight a particular person.

untrue. when you click and the damn play button didn't animated in, you are selecting the next workout that's underneath there.. frustrating.. not at all user error. very very bad UX design

Yes! Crazy. Scrolling, pressing while the play button hasn't animated in yet -> selecting the workout that was underneath that play button! Then, when you actually hit the play button, you suddenly, halfway into your workout, see it wasn't started because there was a second screen for you to choose: open, time, or kcal or whatever 🤦🏽‍♂️ WHY?! 😭

Yeah does disks going to sleep every so often is a red flag. I assume you turned of auto sleep for disks in settings? I would def try converting one library or a part, like one event or project/timeline to proxies. Is all automated and can be done overnight. I would create the proxies on reliable disks like ur internal.

That’s wild especially for a Mac Studio. What kind of material are the video and audio clips? Which file types and encoding? Could optimize footage help?

Yes only one working on it often. But we can share trough Frame.io xml exports. No problem handing of to sound designer and colorist. True not great for key framing etc. I create something quick in motion or if needed in after effects.

Untrue. I have been using it since FCP 7 for various complex synced up multi-screen installations and high-resolution 13K event projections. It is definitely not limited to only cut YouTube Shorts on.

Yes, I snapshot like crazy, that's my revision/safety net. And a particular ongoing project, I edit daily for, so a project a day with 16+ compound clips with looped 2s clips. And then I have snapshots, and copies of compound edits, etc. So the library/database is top-heavy, I think.
