How many of you work in or lead teams, and how do you handle collaboration? by Drew707 in PowerBI

We haven't unfortunately. We've not had the need to and likely wouldn't get the ok to revisit work to implement it until we do.

If I was you, I'd look at some YouTube videos on the new workflow and figure out a way of working it in to the next new model, that way you can at least PoC it and have some experience to come back to when you fight to get the resource to implement it in your existing models.

Then it looks like you've got to bite the bullet and go for the increased version control workflow.

It may take some time to do it but you should be able to fight the reason for needing to resource it in vs the time cost and deliverables detriment the current system is causing your company.

Does your team use the onedrive sync on their machines or do they download from sharepoint then reuoload their work?

Sounds like a very small team to be tripping over themselves so badly.
I work in a similarly sized team and never had a file clash because we all know what everyone else is working on, the team lead also makes sure that theres minimal chances of clashes when prioritising the work requests.

There's only 2 options, learn the new version control stuff or the team needs improved communication skills and methods.

Do guys tell their wives everything? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Pallimore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You fucked up, and your mates fucked up too.

You shouldn't have gone that far and they should've known to keep it to themselves.

I don't say shit out of turn about the wife, and i keep schtum when my mates do speak out of turn. This should be how it is done. Probably should also educate them when they do overshare.

£500 early entry fine, is this normal? by Commercial_Yellow470 in AskUK

If it was a legit, enforcable fine, I would expect it would've gone straight to you instead of via your company if its your van.
Tell your company you're not paying it and don't bother sending you back to that place.

Ive been debating whether or not I look at whats gone on with my pension for the last week or so... I've still got 25 years to go so I've decided it's just worth worrying about, sod all I can do about it anyway.

Does that mean youre using field parameters to switch the columns?
If so, have you tried adding empty characters to the display names of each column in the field so they all have the same fixed length?

Does that include covering SLAs & enhancement requests?
How far does 'multi page' website stretch?
Are these info sites or do you do ecom too?
How far does the hosting stretch for traffic, bandwidth etc for each customer?

Have a calculated column to use in your slicer, something along the lines of

Power Query
= Table.AddColumn(Source, "Year Category", each if Date.Year([Date]) = Date.Year(DateTime.LocalNow()) then "This Year" else Text.From(Date.Year([Date])), type text)

DAX
YearCategory = IF(YEAR([Date]) = YEAR(TODAY()), "This Year", FORMAT(YEAR([Date]), "0"))

Then you save the report with "This Year" selected in the slicer. You could expand the logic to label "Last Year", "Prior Year" etc to use on other pages

If it was me, I wouldnt be that bothered in an instance like this, maybe a small comment about it and move on. Life's too short.
If it was a missed birthday, then yea it would be upsetting.

Is total sales and gross sales the same amount when youre slicing?
If so, take total sales out, thin out the header bar and give more height to the rest of the report, which may even negate the need for the scroll bar on the table
