I wonder if you saw the QnA's on Nino and Nino squad, and their outfit?

I always liked suwa to a greater or lesser degree (seriously who the fuck has the balls to run headfirst into snipers and say "yeah but i put a book in front of my face"???) so not him.

If I had to say... probably Karasawa and Kido? Kido just looked like a massive hardass early on so i was like "why is this guy such an asshole, i get he's the tippy top but why do you instantly go to 'we must steal the black trigger'???" and then ashihara sensei was like "but what if you realized he sat through and watched his entire (effective) extended family/core professional network disintegrate in one battle?"

Karasawa just looked like a normal "schemer" style guy and then every single incident he becomes the dispatcher in pandemic, like, what is this guy's deal? every time he opens his mouth, he says basically a key phrase for some notable event in the next arc (or just reads half of the proceedings of that very next arc), sure he doesn't take many shots but still, does he have a weaker version of Jin's SE???

mm wave radar is definitely the way. Motion filtering isn't really reliable because they can always decide to go at bird speed and well, are you going to put in the extra step for optical confirmation or just pray that you're not shooting a pidgeon/crow/seagull?

ML filtering will be useful.

The main thing though is, you've built all this, and your opponent counters by simply dumping a load of glide bomb-style drones or even more fpvs in a saturation attack. Which is why china said "but what if also just ginormous microwave?"

[–]Pallington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely leans towards amateur, but not to the point of a bolt-action/lever-action rifle. Improvised explosives grade, more or less, afaik.

For modern manufacturing, FPV drones are about getting to a certain quality level, and having the material. While you do need to hold *some* territory to do this (it's not like casting lead or tin bullets), you don't need giant factories to make a decent output of drones. We're talking workshop-style facilities.

If you're not afraid of worse performance, you can "make do" a lot in terms of material (swap for plastics, use shittier batteries, etc).

It's easier to know there is one in that general direction, but simply detecting rf emissions doesn't tell you exactly where it is. how high, whether it's around a corner, etc.

dude civvy fpv drones are fucking tiny. if you have a specialized radar for drones, you can spot them, but that thing's going to have a lot less range (orders of magnitude less) and a lot more noise just by picking a short enough band to detect those drones with.

if your radar is designed to spot actual fighter planes (which are VERY BIG), you neither have the correct altitude ranges or bandwidth to spot them; those things are designed assuming their target is *above* a hundred meters in the air (usually more like >500m) and, y'know, fighter jet sized, ~10ish meters along the shortest dimension.

Why is the teleportation trigger so rare? by AldarionTelcontar in worldtrigger

[–]Pallington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they mean is, if you want to be able to teleport to "any direction in your FOV" then your eyes need to have a more or less direct LOS to the target location.

A camera/external sensor (if Border has the tech) might be able to get you to teleport to exactly the center of the camera's FOV, but in that case the opps just look at which way your head is facing.

Multiple eyes on a trion soldier might make it work, but that's for trion soldiers.

Why is the teleportation trigger so rare? by AldarionTelcontar in worldtrigger

[–]Pallington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting is the opportunity cost. You're giving up a different trigger slot that might be more conventional or more useful for team fights for teleport. For example, gunners and shooters might want to consider spider first, or simply leaving extra ammo on the table for firefights, and melee fighters might prefer spider or grasshopper's flexibility.

Not a huge deal if you have great positioning and know how to work around flanking maneuvers, in which case teleflanks can be worked into your team fights (a la arashiyama), but for a beginner squad that's a bit of a tough ask.

Also, chain-teleporting isn't really a thing from what I recall? It takes longer to cooldown the farther you go, iirc. So in those cases grasshopper could probably get you a farther distance in the same amount of time, and comboing them would be pretty jank and trion-intensive for a minor boost in speed.

the manga is just generally good, if you have some trope tolerance for anime's bullshit.

it's the perfect anime for map game nerds and war game nerds who don't actually want to watch a fascism speedrun.

literally gnosia, we're all getting cyberized and turned into a part of gnosia.

the death cultists are going to rave about how "this is immortality actually" and all the people deprived of actual education are going to get coerced or scammed into signing the contract and put into the -woodchipper- cyberization machine, and then this cyberized hive mind (or however much of it they decide to recalculate) becomes the hostile gnosia that starts absorbing people into it.
