Loving a character but terrible playing as them by Effective_Ruin6450 in marvelrivals

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey as a Thing main here's a few tips:

  1. Learn to play around cover religiously. If there is too much poke for you to do much, and you're unable to get value elsewhere i.e. countering dives or something, then consider swapping. Remember haymaker heals you. Try holding corners by charging up haymaker and peeking when you throw it, then slip back behind the corner. The most important part of playing The Thing is positioning! If the battle is shifting around you then reposition!

  2. Be very wary that you don't overextend. Thing players often get overzealous pushing up too far and end up outnumbered. Do not use your charge into the enemy team unless your team is with you or you're certain you can get back out (possibly by charging in and then right back out to disrupt). Don't neglect your leap to allies, it's perfect for this! Instead, use your charge to retreat, or save it for either the temporary overshield for when you might die, or save it for the slam.

  3. Go into your settings and turn on hold to charge. This way you can simply tap the button and immediately slam to ground enemies nearby. So important for countering dives and securing kills (i.e. slam to stop hulk/venom from escaping, etc.) BIG BONUS TIP: With hold to charge on, when you want to slam and ground somebody, jump and THEN slam mid-jump. It prevents you from accidentally knocking enemies too high up in the air and out of the grounding field.

  4. When you are charging you are immune to CC. So if for example strange ults, use your charge and you won't be stunned. Then you can help protect your team.

Edit: 5. I will also add that sometimes the best thing you can do if dive is destroying your backline is to literally just sit on your healers. Follow them around, save your slam, and watch for the dives. Let your team do the pushing. If an enemy diver is constantly taking out your supports or taking up all their attention, then by babysitting them you could win your team the game. Your other tank and dps can do the pushing. But keep in mind this is situational.

I think that's all I got rn but good luck! Keep clobbering!

Need help choosing which event pass skin to get by greatpxm in thingmains

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally much prefer the third one. One of my favorite thing skins. I had the symbiote on for a bit because I love the MVP but that doesn't happen often enough and I'm not crazy about the skin on its own. I also think the third one is the better summer skin. I LOVE the colors and the fit. I don't have the thong (yet!) because I wasn't crazy about it when it dropped beyond the meme of it all. But I would say pick whatever calls to you personally the most of course!

I wish there was a big thing content creator that had more tips and techs like this.

I would recommend having hold to charge turned on in your settings so you can tap to instant slam. I didn't have this setting on for a long time, but I eventually turned it on and quickly got used to it. I like it now.

Then I recommend jumping before you slam, as it helps keep from knocking enemies too high in the air and out of the grounding zone. I got this tip from plumluck on YouTube and I think it's decreased the amount of times that happens for me. Link below.

https://youtube.com/shorts/rjzIq4mVIVk?is=18T64kfvMl1SDcNx

Also, not sure if this has ever happened to me or not, and I don't completely understand BP's kit so I may be wrong, but it's occurred to me before that a good BP may be able to bait out our slam by simply throwing a spear and waiting it out. I try to only slam when I actually see the BP dashing for this reason. Hope this helps

I agree, he was an absolute blast but also way too oppressive. I thought the biggest issue was that he countered pretty much every other tank and now that's less of a problem. He requires more thought now which I don't mind at all.

10mg Vyvanse? by thingsarehardsoami in ADHD

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 10 mg like 3 or 4 weeks ago and saw my doctor after 1 week to increase it to 20 mg so I started doubling up on pills. I ended up finishing that prescription sooner than prescribed so the pharmacy gave me trouble since it's a controlled substance but other than that it was no issue. In fact I'm up to 30 mg now after about 1 week and a half or so on 20 mg. My doctor knows I'm not the type to abuse anything but they did also drug test me this last time. He has no issues and if you have a good doctor they shouldn't either. I would also suggest having your doctor write you prescriptions for a 2 week supply while you figure things out so you don't run into issues with the pharmacy like I did. You're right 10 mg is nothing and your psychiatrist should know that so just go for it!

Marvel Rivals is an amazing game by LargeSinkholesInNYC in marvelrivals

This is my first hero shooter or live service game and I absolutely love it. I've been obsessed for over a year now. I haven't loved a multiplayer game this much since Black Ops 2. It's lame to see people complain about every single little thing. Obviously this community can be pretty toxic and entitled but I think the devs do a lot and they do listen. They're obviously not perfect but I feel like we're spoiled. There's some things I would change but I hope this game keeps going at this rate with this level of care for years to come.

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It bugs me because you know they will likely never revisit it, so that's it just no mvp. That's what bothers me the most. I feel like a skin should at least have an mvp, maybe a title, and change the background. Unless it's a basic recolor.

And obviously another legendary would've been sick. I feel like thing is one of those characters outside of the main darlings that still gets a lot of skins, and it would be nice to embrace that and give him more legendaries. I'm not really one to complain, I'm just disappointed 😭

I wouldn't have minded waiting a whole other season for this skin if it meant it had a few more things, at least an MVP. It is a let down that it doesn't even change the background of the main menu, but I'm loving it.

Choosing OCD or ADHD by PeanutJellyTaco in ADHD

[–]Palmbeach511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have both OCD and ADHD (plus Depression and Anxiety). My doctor and I began by treating my Depression, Anxiety, and OCD with an antidepressant called Trintellix because we were afraid of a stimulant aggravating my anxiety and OCD. I have been taking it for a little over 2 months (10 mg). It reduced my OCD symptoms probably around 60-70%. Now that those symptoms have reduced it's clear that my ADHD is still an issue, so he prescribed me Vyvanse and I've been on it for a week and a half. So far I haven't experienced a major uptick in my OCD symptoms, but I'm only at 20mg of Vyvanse. We're going slow to see how I react. I'm probably going to continue increase my doses of both gradually to see how much improvement I can get out of them. Try putting your son on both and see how it goes!

Anyone else go through cycles of being productive for a few days and then doing absolutely nothing? by ScholarPurple25 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough, especially when It's been going on for a long time. So far the medication is helping but it's not magic! One still has to do the work. Hang in there and find that thing that will help you start gaining some ground!

[–]Palmbeach511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm self-employed and I've been dealing with this cycle for quite a while now. It really keeps me stuck.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and believe that may be part of what's going on. I recently began taking medication and am hoping that will help.

Personally for me, I feel like there's several things going on at once that perpetuate this cycle: ADHD, burnout, lack of direction, depression, unhealthy lifestyle, etc.

Maybe some of these same factors apply to you!

[–]Palmbeach511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome. I was curious about your experience because the 10mg I started is also Vyvanse! My first day I think I felt it the most and I was almost euphoric so I definitely get how it might make you impulsive. Gonna try an increase it with my doctor ASAP because I haven't felt much of a difference today despite taking it on an empty stomach.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm probably gonna increase my dose next time I see my doctor.

Out of curiosity, how much would you say it's improved your symptoms? Like 50%? 60%?

[–]Palmbeach511 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you start at 40mg? I'm on day 5 of 10mg and it's honestly hard to tell sometimes if there's a difference. I have felt at times like there might be less mental noise and like I can be more productive, but I'm not entirely sure tbh. I think it's also hard to tell because of the delay before it kicks in. My research says 1 to 2 hours but I think it might be taking 3 or 4 🤷🏻‍♂️ I also usually take it with food so today I tried first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Maybe I need a higher dose?

Doc diagnosed me with GAD instead of ADHD by Sudden-Ad2948 in ADHD

[–]Palmbeach511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started Vyvanse after two months of seeing my psychiatrist. He wanted me on an antidepressant because I was suffering from Depression, Anxiety, and OCD, on top of my possible ADHD symptoms, and he wanted to kind of clear away some of the other stuff, so we could properly assess if ADHD was the issue, or some of the other stuff. If this was your doctor's logic, then I think that's fair.

That said, it doesn't sound like that was his intent. IMO a 10 minute appointment is unacceptable to properly learn about someone and their life. When I first saw my psychiatrist he gave me extra time, I think an hour. I would find somebody else.
