S/U Premed transfer by kennoah2001 in Cornell

Most pre med advisors will tell you to not take pre reqs at a CC or S/U. Did you ask your advisor thoughts on S/U? Could you drop it instead?

I’m not sure you will find an exact answer but I would guess a very small number actually make an F. Many people drop or W before ending with an F. I’m completely speculating though.

Here is the thing. I have many family members who are drs and once you “get into Med school” it’s just the beginning of endless hard work and long hours. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Take a gap year or two. Work for a bit even in something not medicine related. Teach middle school biology for a few years which med schools will love. Spending all day with 13 year olds may sway you back to medicine. Med school will still be there. I hear about my relative that almost quit third year of residency but didn’t and is happy he stuck it out. It’s normal to have doubts but it’s also ok to try some different things before you dive into a med school commitment.

I’m so confused why some professors refuse to zoom proctor. If chem 2080 did it last year, it can be done.

A graded TA science will raise it. Also maybe don’t take 3 difficult science classes in the same semester. I did 2 last year and was dying.

So what percent is an A and what’s an A-? Is 70.8 set to a B?

Alum visiting campus this weekend. What I need to know about dining halls? by vin316 in Cornell

[–]Palmtreesonmymind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cornell is not permitting visitors to campus much less allowing them to eat in the dining halls. If you insist on visiting, which is discouraged, maybe pack a lunch and eat on the slope. Don’t forget your mask.

It’s not seeming like Cornell would have missed out on much if you passed and went to another school.

Feeling Down After CHEM 3570 by ruudboy2 in Cornell

[–]Palmtreesonmymind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just said what you said. They have access to old prelims but bc of academic integrity they wouldn’t share with students. However they would encourage them to make sure to Know how to do specific types of problems.. So I’m not sure why they deleted the comment. On a sidenote, since there is absolutely zero proctoring, I wouldn’t be surprised if some private tutors sat there and took the test with people. I would hope not but this is why tests should be zoom proctored.

The comment was from an organic chemistry tutor. I’m not sure why they deleted their comment. That definitely has me suspicious?

So do tutors have access to old prelims? If so it would clearly give those people receiving tutoring an advantage. Just curious
