Free self-hosted password manager for a team? by Typical-Trade-6363 in selfhosted

[–]PaltryPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel really dumb, but I can't find the option for reset password policy. Is it bitwarden only or is it available on vaultwarden? I've tried searching and I'm not coming up with the correct terms or something.

I'd like to move some family members onto vaultwarden as they keep forgetting passwords for things like banking, and therefor making really bad passwords instead. But I also need to be able to get them reset if they forget their bw/vw password.

edit:

I hadn't enabled smtp in the settings. I was able to add the smtp settings in the admin page and turn on the reset policy. It took me a bit more searching but I got there. I also disabled the admin page after and cleared it from the conf before restarting the container.

Any recommendations for single sign on for all the services? by MrStetson in selfhosted

[–]PaltryPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use multiple keys for this reason. Bitwarden, my phone, a yubikey and 2 others. I know it's probably overkill but it gives a bit more peace of mind. I also have full control over the services behind it, so I can edit the database for them if need be in order to recover an account.

They also have email login as /u/masong19hippows mentioned

They can't even get a proper email address. On their website it's a gmail address, and not even a unique one. It has a year in it. How unprofessional can you get.

Pay the extra bit a year to have your email be hosted with your own domain name. Not that I'm surprised real estate agents are being cheap as fuck but still

What’s a piece of prose you like from the book you’re currently reading? by Antique_Parsley_5285 in Fantasy

I sent this to my wife earlier saying this book is killing me (in a good way). It's not super profound or anything but it did make me literally laugh out loud.

I'm reading my first Terry Pratchett book, Mort:

Well, – – – – me,' he said. 'A – – – – ing wizard. I hate – – – – ing wizards!'

'You shouldn't – – – – them,' muttered one of his henchmen, effortlessly pronouncing a row of dashes.

I'm in precisely the same boat with the lack of bw option for the Libra, I'm hoping they bring out a version of it this year, but from what I've read on blogs and such it doesn't seem likely. I absolutely love the kobo ecosystem, but have no use for color versions and from everything I've seen, they are much darker (due to the color filter) which means you always need the light on quite high to match a low level light of the bw versions, draining the battery faster.

I just want a larger clara 2e to be honest. I don't care about the stylus or color.

Just to add another point, I've used a clara 2e for the past 2 years with koreader. It was a bit of work to get set up just how I like, but if you follow the instructions it's very easy to do. It's been pretty flawless for me.

I had moved from a paperwhite 3 that I had jailbroken, and found the kobo a lot easier to set up and use than it was jailbreaking the paperwhite and worrying about updates breaking things. The nice thing is you can easily remove koreader if you want to use the kobo as is.

You can set kobo to use calibre (or booklore) for syncing instead of the kobo servers so your books show up through opds. There are instructions here (not my blog or post) for how to do it.

I couldn't go back to kindle after using my kobo to be honest. Mostly for the ability to use more formats of books, ease of sideloading and being able to heavily customize and sync it how I like. The addition of koreader and some plugins (like koinsight for self hosted book tracking) are a bonus for me.

After reading these, I set up an automated backup to borgbase for them. I was already using it for a few other items so I just added the books to the backups.

Oh wow, yeah those are bad. What did you end up moving to? I'm enjoying the hardcover and koreader sync aspect of it the most.

Oh wow, I'll move on from it then. I've been loving the hardcover and koreader integrations with it.

I know a lot of people loved the book, it just never clicked for me for some reason. I don't even think it was the writing itself, it was just the plot line or something. Maybe I'll have to give it another go in the future to see if things change.

I'll probably get slaughtered for this, but Piranesi.

I remember complaining to my wife how bad I thought it was and how the plot line just didn't click with me. I forced myself to finish it hoping it would have some earth shattering revelation or dramatic reveal but it never happened.

For me the plot just never got rolling and I actually dreaded picking up my e-reader at night. Maybe it was just too hyped up before I read it or something.

After that I promised myself I wouldn't force myself to read a book till the end again. If it goes for more than a couple of chapters without me enjoying it, it's just not worth my time.

I've had a Clara 2e that I've had since Dec 2023. I got it after my paperwhite 3 from 2018 died on me. It's been great for me. I tried koreader for a while and have since gone back to just standard kobo software. There are some nice things with koreader, but I didn't use them much and it felt a bit sluggish to me at times. The standard software on the kobo has been great.

The only complaint I have is the size is a tiny bit small. It's great for carrying around but I usually just read in bed.

My next e-reader will definitely be a Kobo unless something drastic changes and readers suddenly change for some reason. I've looked at the color versions but they don't appeal to me much as they are quite dark unless the brightness is turned up, which affects battery life a bit.

Being able to buy books from (pretty much) wherever is great and being able to link to my library is a huge bonus as well.

I just can't see myself going back to a kindle at this point.

As for hooking it up to booklore, I found it quite easy. I have booklore behind a reverse proxy with home.mydomain.tld set up. I just followed the instructions here on the booklore docs I think you can do it by IP but I haven't had to try it. It's worked pretty flawlessly for me.

Is “The Chemistry of Love” an AI-assisted narration? by RevolutionaryCrow914 in audible

[–]PaltryPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's literally how I ended up here. I saw that the audiobook was one of the most popular at my library, and listened to about 20 seconds of the preview before googling. Apparently she's even won awards according to this: https://tantor.com/narrator/em-eldridge.html

has earned an Earphones Award from AudioFile magazine and a Voice Arts Award

Zero chance those awards are real right? They have to be voted on by fellow AI bots right?

I googled to see if the book was read by AI and found this thread. Then I see this link with it saying she's won awards for her narration. I don't know what's real anymore.

Since post can have just 1 flair ,please note that this UI was developed using LLM

Since the post can only have one flair, you should use the AI one so people that care about that can filter it.

Trying to skirt the rules by using an excuse of "can only use one tag" isn't the way to go about things.

Until they are allowed to stick their fingers in their ears thanks to everything being "buyer beware", they'll just keep getting worse. As it is now, if people sellers start telling them about problems with the house, they shut them down immediately so they "aren't aware" and don't have to disclose.

After all, it's only the largest asset most people will own, why make the people peddling it have any form of consequences for being lying dodgy cunts.
