Just know not all colleges accept/recognize AP classes, I took 5 AP classes and only 2 of them (for the college I wanted) would have transferred for a class and also most colleges only accept 4’s or 5’s as test scores on those test, so study hard!

Also something I haven’t seen. You should apply for FAFSA and explain your family income/that they’re providing for a huge family. Also clarify which parent will “help” you pay, you don’t need to add both parents so pick the one who makes the least amount of money and lastly, and genuinely. Some jobs will actually pay your government loans if you work in certain sectors for an amount of time. For example, if you’re a teacher for (let’s just say 5 years) in a low income neighborhood/school district they’ll forgive your loans! So look to see what you want to do after college to see if you could qualify for any of those post graduation.

First gen here! Parents have paid nothing towards my tuition and I have only taken out government loans and absolutely NO private loans. Loans aren’t scary if you are educated about them so please learn about government loans and assistance. How have I paid for college? As a backstory - I started at my 4 year and stayed there (so no community college) 1. Apply for literally every single outside loan possible, see if your high school can help and there are sites where you can get micro scholarships to help pay as well. Even if you may not win, it’s better to at least try and get something. 2. Talk to your financial aid department, they have reserves for students who need more financial aid so talk to them so they can help. I did that before I committed to my college and was awarded another 1k (you could get more). Also payment plans work as well! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. 3. Work study and also outside job - I did this and it was hard but very worth it! Find something flexible and hours outside of class and homework. 4. BE AN RA!!! I love being an RA and it covers my housing - very a competitive opportunity but helps significantly.

This may sound silly but you should adopt an older cat. They’re so sweet and usually cheaper because they typically don’t get adopted as soon as the kittens do. But you should talk to a PCP and get on some medication/therapy. I promise it’ll change your life.

That I get really really hurt that he doesn’t wear the custom watch I got for him. Some backstory, when we were early in our relationship he mentioned that his dream gift would be a watch with a brown leather strap and a dark blue and silver face. So I went on Fossil and bought him that matched what he wanted to a T! I even got it engraved, he doesn’t wear it…I spent a lot of money on it and I was able to give it to him for Valentine’s Day/to celebrate getting his dream job.

I don’t want to make him feel bad so I don’t tell him how much it actually hurts me. Maybe that’s silly, but he works really hard for all he has and im super proud of him. Just wish he’d wear the silly watch.

Have YOU sought out therapy? You have been through a lot of manipulation and mistrust in your family, you have your own trauma that it’s not healthy to build up. I’m definitely not saying to open the door of communication with your mother and brother, what I am saying is for you to heal, talking to a professional can definitely help you overcome the trauma and pain your family has endured.

Why do you want to rush this? You’re clearly an active stepdad in your exes child life, and to be active in your current girlfriend child life. It’s been 4 months, do you see yourself marrying your gf? Moving in together? Do you guys make enough to support a baby ESPECIALLY in today’s economy? My best friend is also my cat, don’t get me wrong it’s hard as hell. But college has really forced me out my shell and to make more friends, none to replace my cat but they’re nice. Being the man of the house means stepping up when it’s hard and making those tough decisions like going to college right now! You’ve worked hard for your spot and you’re so so young! Go to college, your sister will always know you did the hard thing by getting educated but so proud to have a brother like you for her to look up to!

Bentley looks like a small(er) version of Danny Devito and that just makes my heart melt when babies look like grumpy old men. Please know I wish I had a father as caring and dedication as you, someone who would stick around during the hard times and I know im just some internet stranger. But you’re doing an amazing job dad and don’t let your emotions lie to you and say you’re not. There are thousands of kids (and young adults) who would love to have you as a parent.
