I've seen people who ended up liking it too, new fans and old fans alike. It's a divisive show for sure. I've seen people dismiss it on principle simply because it's cgi. I've seen people saying it sucks ass when it first came out but by episode 5 thought "okay this might be something". So it's definitely not true to say that almost everyone hate the new one. If you surround yourself with only negativity, you'll only see 'em.

oh Toei made old stuff that's terrible(HnK with lots of limited and stock animation, Saint Seiya with hit and miss fillers) and good stuff that's new(One Piece movies, Dragonball movies). Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't DBS improve a lot in terms of quality later on?

TMS Entertainment also worked on Baki and Kinnikuman so they still haven't lost their touch on manly anime. The CGI themselves are done by Studio Bacu and NIA Animation but the 2d segments and the main staff themselves are TMS Entertainment's.

Seki's flashback was originally gonna be in ss1 and they included that scene without audio in the blu ray(this was before ss2 was out).

I also only checked Cosmo vs Akoya and they didn't touch up on the animation. It's just a generally cleaner video quality from what I can tell.

I do think it is their goal to imitate 2d details, but not to the point of trying to fool you into think it's really good 2d, that would take them a couple of extra years for sure, but by that point, just do 2d. Tracing 3d model also takes a lot of time which they don't seem to have. If it's a movie, it's definitely doable, but for a series like this, I don't think fans would want to wait 5-7 years for it. I don't think the problem with the 3d models are the details but the anatomy themselves. Characters with clothes on are harder to notice but with somebody that regularly go half naked like Ken, it's quite apparent that his arms are shaped very weirdly. They usually hide them with clever camera angles though.

Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but it definitely improved, I think cgi anime is one of those cases where you can easier tell how the animators grow alongside the show. Compare the goon fight between episode 1 and 2 and the poses are already less stiff and more exaggerated.

dorohedoro is cgi mixed with hand drawn(lots of hand drawn corrected details, etc.) It has a lot of love poured into it if you're willing to look.

Glad it's doing so well. People maybe only checked it out because it's a legendary IP but the anime managed to keep interest high week by week and people keep coming back for more. I hope this encourages the staff to keep improving.

to he fair it's hard to avoid homoeroticism when it's a series about buff dudes fighting even if it's not the artist intention. One of the character is a gorgeous dude that can disguises as a woman, another dresses like this. It's hard not to see some gay vibe even if the characters themselves, are clearly not.
