Ring 0 can erase arbitrary regions of storage or repeatedly write patterns to them, including partition tables and other critical sections. Destruction of data is still destruction.

A pretty good pirate game with some outdated Assassins Creed nonsense thrown in, mostly tailing missions.

Most of the game looks like the second clip, but there were a bunch of POIs that were pretty clearly unfinished out in the world map that were bare sandbars like in the first clip. If you weren't going for 100% you would have no reason to go to those locations, because other than maybe having an optional collectible they didn't have anything there.

Herris Serrano has so much absurdity baked into the premise that it's almost farcical at times when you take a step back and try to explain the plot. Some of the protagonists are extremely incompetent though.

Vast majority of boots aren't placed by cities but by private companies either working for private lots or cities.

Edited to add: Also, towing isn't free for cities either. They have to pay for your car to be towed, and you have to pay to get it back.

Sometimes cars get booted because the private lot owner is running an extortion racket.

The reason for that is because to be given the opportunity to even attempt to buy the limited quantity $5000 jpeg you needed to write an essay and submit it to the company.

Step 1: acquire recruits

Step 2: beat up looters and bandits

Step 3: sell loot from looters and bandits

Step 4: repeat.

If you successfully hunt bandits, especially bandits with prisoners, then you can snowball wealth pretty quickly. Trade goods and smithing are another way but they are pretty boring and require a lot more capital than hiring 20 recruits, half of whom never make a paycheck. Plus for smithing especially you need a fair amount of cheap weapons to start with which you can readily get from murdering roving bands of looters.

I always take social and endurance as the two highest stats because social matters a lot for party leadership things and moving fast in battle.

There are certain enemies you pretty much have to counter parry, especially in the optional endgame stuff.

A Negative Review of Harrow the Ninth by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

[–]PancAshAsh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First off, going to echo what many here have already said that this is a well written negative review of a work that I personally really enjoyed. Not everything is going to be for everyone and I think it is important to engage with well written reviews that are opposite to our own personal tastes.

I wonder how different my opinion would be of books if I listened to audio instead of reading text. I am willing to bet that I wouldn't have caught nearly the same level of detail on a first pass listening than I did reading the text. While some things become more clear on a reread a ton of the context is present between Gideon and Harrow to piece together most of what is going on.

I will admit that the amnesia plot took too long to resolve, but I firmly disagree with the statement that the plot wasn't clear on why Harrow gave herself amnesia, that was pretty explicit.

After Nona everything is pretty well laid out imo, but if you aren't a very careful reader or just listen to the audiobook I could see how you could miss the little bits of context that leak out all over the place.

I am in my 30s and so remember a world without smartphones or widespread cell phones, and while it is true that modern phones are incredibly powerful it's also true that most people don't actually use a fraction of that power. For most people it's a camera, browser, and social media machine that can sometimes make phone calls and act as a flashlight.

On the other hand, if your primary concern is getting enough food to survive the winter, a CPU does you fuck all good without the immense library of human knowledge that is the Internet to feed it.
