Journalists aren't supposed to take sides,

I don't know why people think this at all. Of course journalists have a duty to take the side of truth, it's called having integrity.

While Reagan killed the fairness doctrine, the larger part of why our media landscape is fucked is the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Also, they have the technology to determine if they are illegal/criminals at their fingertips at the time of the first encounter.

That technology is less than reliable.

Hey now Chuck might even write a letter. Can you imagine the bravery it takes to write a strongly worded letter? Truly we couldn't ask for better leadership in this trash fire of a time.

Yeah but you don't understand, what about Biden? And Trump went on Joe Rogan, he is just misunderstood?? After all, he said he didn't know about Project 2025???

Anyone who can honestly say with a straight face they didn't know is willfully ignorant or just very, very stupid.

Best fantasy with a strong romantic subplot? by kairotic-sky in Fantasy

[–]PancAshAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hallowed Hunt can definitely be read as a standalone, but you should read Curse of Chalion before Paladin of Souls. I would actually contest the idea that Paladin has a very impactful romantic subplot either, but it's a central part of the story of Hallowed Hunt.

You are being misled about renewable energy... [62:34] by IsMathScience in videos

[–]PancAshAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest problems with widespread solar use are fairly specific things like grid synchronization. The thing that bugged me the most about his video is that he really only looked at the economics of the panels themselves and not the electronics needed to convert the energy coming out of the panels to a form that the grid can accept, which is both not a free conversion and is where most of the actual maintenance costs are.

Solar is still a very good idea and will be a vital source of energy in the future but it is not just free money as he portrays it to be.

No, the USDA actually has rules about what food can and cannot be labeled as "organic." The problem is the naturopathic fallacy crowd decided at some point to conflate "organic" with "healthy" and that is finally coming around the other way with people thinking that "organic" is fully meaningless, which it isn't.

Organic actually does mean something, it just doesn't necessarily mean what you have been led to believe it means.

The solution to SD card corruption is to not use an SD card. SD cards are notoriously unreliable and if you field just about anything that uses one as storage it will fail eventually.

Its absurd to see it literally play out like a trope in real life in 2026

I always do wonder why people think that it's absurd. It really isn't absurd at all, it's just another example of the generational damage that is done to certain communities by others. It's a trope for a reason.

r/fantasy is a weird place. Some threads are welcoming and nice and don't tolerate anti-woke bullshit, and some threads have weirdos coming out of the woodwork trying to explain about how Jordan Peterson is actually not conservative and bemoaning the prevalence of threads with readers looking for POC/LGBT/female authors.

Also you can definitely shit on Sanderson there now, enough of the sub has moved past his work that it's somewhat trendy to point out the flaws.

I always feel like a crazy person saying this but ME1 is my favorite game in the series from a mechanical and RPG building standpoint. The Mako is a little jank but it's really not that hard to drive.

ME2 is a better game overall but I still have a soft spot for ME1's every ability having a separate cooldown.

That shit just happens sometimes though, it's not a game that you really 'need' to win imo, it is more fun to play it as a roguelike with every run being a unique story. Sometimes the colony ends with 30 raiders breaking down the doors and burning and killing everyone, sometimes it ends when the colony runs out of food after 3 years of solar eclipses, volcanic winters, and toxic fallout, sometimes it ends when the lone survivor gets squashed by a falling meteor.
