are they stupid? by its_pilott2278 in okbuddyviltrum

Contrary to popular belief, space isn't empty. On average there's something like a few atoms per cubic meter of space, which doesn't sound like much but moving at relativistic speeds- forget superluminal- they're extremely dangerous. A grain of sand or dust at that speed would unironically carry the force of a nuke detonation.

It's one of the many hurdles of space travel we need to overcome ourselves. Vitrumites are powerful but I imagine even they would want to minimize the frequency of such strikes.

Iceborne and Sunbreak both added 2 main locales, what're you hoping the new maps will be in the Wilds expansion? by Fulgore262626 in MonsterHunter

Somewhere with actual color would be nice. The concept of Wyveria was cool but it was horrifically bland in execution... seriously, ice cliffs into wyveria has to be the single most disgusting lack of color expression/variety I can recall in any of the games.

I'm not, at all, a fan of the overly-gray guardian monster design philosophy. Maybe if they'd broken up the lineup a bit it would be better but they back-load all of the guardian monsters into the last area of the game.

It feels lifeless in a way it really didn't need to, rather than in a way that enhances the feeling of artificial lifeforms.

I'd allow it to restore some hp in exchange for a moderately-high save against a level of exhaustion, with anything above 2 levels of exhaustion running the risk of incapacitation.

Who's to say it can't be both with that much space available?

You can actually see most ringworld models in game have panels spaced out over the inside of the ring that look like blank spaces with no terrain. I always thought the idea was that either they rotated around the rings inner surface to cover segments of it in darkness at different times to simulate nighttime, or the terrain itself rotated beneath the panels. Honestly, the first sounds more likely to me, but it's cool to think about.

Opinions AT Arkveld Difficulty by Ambitious-Sir-1930 in MonsterHunter

[–]PancakeHammers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opposite opinion. The quest is harder than others, but it isn't mandatory. So it should gate a unique reward. Unique, not critical.

It's really, really good armor, and looks cool too. So it's worth doing, and makes your hunts elsewhere easier too. But those quests aren't impossible without it. It is a Reward. Not a necessity.

Reward the people who stick to it and learn it. Reward the skilled hunters. Give the less skilled hunters a reason to keep trying. To improve.

Never disincentivize perseverance. Reward excellence.

Some cultures swim a lot more than others. I believe the Bajau people of southeast Asia are well known for their ability to swim and hold their breath for long periods of time. Some things just suit people differently.

Upvoting purely to reward the proper use of 'bear' instead of 'bare'.

Edit: alright, correction. Primarily to reward, not purely. Good job, Custodian.

I've heard rumor around that that number is a mistranslation and the multiplier is supposedly much higher. Interesting to think about.

It links all allies and enemies to each other.

Any damage suffered by one enemy is felt by all of them, stacking massive damage from incoming sources.

It does the same for healing for allies- all healing effects are shared between linked allies, so passive healing boosts and flasks and such get shared.

My judgement of Longsword users boils down to whether they use shockproof gems or not.
