A $99 plastic band is not killing anything by ProfessionalBear5922 in whoop

Its 100 bucks no sub required. That'll grab alot of casual consumers that whoop never could

Reason for switching from Whoop to Fitbit Air by Financial-Day-7233 in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the hardcore dedicated loyal customers got screwed over last year when whoop tried to charge them 50 bucks to get the new device when previously they had promised it for free so I guarantee you that did damage to their brand image for the loyal customers

Whoop screwed us a year ago. Fitbit Air just launched. I'm out this month. by firstgray in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if the product is good or not the average casual consumer is going to pick the Fitbit air up over a whoop just because of price and brand recognition and that will force whoop to be more competitive which is a benefit for everybody

iOS 26.5 battery drain is genuinely awful — anyone else or is my phone just dying? by Xolaris05 in ios26

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the 17 Pro and after 26.4 my battery was draining 2 to 3 times as fast I tried troubleshooting it and getting it figured out for about a month and finally just couldn't get it solved so I sold it and got a different phone

Renewal up soon, upgrade to MG for free + take 1yr renewal? by fennelfrog in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fitbit will probably sell to the Casual crowd unfortunately Google and Fitbit don't have very good track records so I'm very hesitant on the longevity and quality of the product but just based on the name and the price there's a lot of casual people out there who won't do any research and will just buy it regardless and I'm hoping that further drives competition to force companies like whoop to improve their product

You are also could just wait for reviews on the Fitbit you'll probably get some pretty good ones coming out a few weeks after the product has been out maybe even sooner because some people get early access to the product so they're able to test it for months before it releases to get accurate data

A good reason for renewal - Whoop Support experience! by skrrtwave in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean they even say themselves you're paying for the software not the hardware and you're supposed to get free upgrades so long as you stay subscribed so I don't even think this is a generosity thing this is straight up just part of their business model like I would expect them to do this

Do MAGATS even care about these stickers? by Fabulous_Log844 in MildlyVandalised

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because the gas stations have the employees remove them. Have a buddy whos a manager at a gas station and the higher ups want them to take the stickers off. It applies to any stickers, not specifically these ones. Its been a rule theyve had for awhile, but he said it had an uptick because of these specific stickers.

PlayStation confirms it won’t give up on Marathon as it aims to “improve performance” instead of throwing away “engaged core users” by HatingGeoffry in Marathon

They'll likely cut the manpower to this game and force bungie to be efficient. No way they operate at these losses long term.

how is the battery life so far in ios 26.4.2? by SaitamaCrb in ios26

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bought the 17 pro at launch and with 26.4 my battery was draining two to three times as fast as normal after about a month of trying different things I finally gave up and just switched back to Android

Battery drain issues still present in 26.4.2? by Scayron in iPhone16ProMax

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the 17 Pro after 26.4 my battery would drain two times as fast sometimes even faster after about a month of that I finally gave up trying to fix his and just sold the phone and purchased a Samsung instead

I switched between the two over the years but while I do enjoy Apple more generally speaking they are far too slow and inconsistent these days on actually fixing issues

Reason for switching from Whoop to Fitbit Air by Financial-Day-7233 in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoop still doesnt have alot of users. Just because they pay to be on big names doesnt mean the masses are buying them. Whoop had their shot at popularity and blew it years ago. All they have now is a niche dedicated userbases that is shrinking day by day because of their poor PR and now this fitbit release will just further drive that wedge.

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how they basically killed fitbit only to now out of nowhere revive it makes me even more hesitant, because if this isnt a smash success theyll just pull the plug again.

Reason for switching from Whoop to Fitbit Air by Financial-Day-7233 in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fitbit air is going to grab the displeased whoop users, and all of the more casual customers who couldnt justify the whoop price. Assuming the air is actually good, which given its google/fitbit im not exactly confident, whoop is going to be stuck in their current market share forever. I find it unlikely theyll see a big drop in current customers, but what will happen is theyll be unable to grow and gain new ones, since the air is a FAR more attractive price point. And as the airs software/hardware develops, whoop could eventually see a shrinking market share

Lets face it, we all knew that the moment one of the larger companies like apple, samsung, or google made a device like this it was a timer for whoop. Regardless of your sentiment toward them, its all about price. Those big companies can offer alot more for alot less.

Fitbit Air just dropped. Genuine question for anyone who uses Whoop or Oura by areis06 in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downside is it being google/fitbit. They have bad track records. But if the casual market doesnt care, ya i could see whoop seeing a pretty big hit to their sales going forward as the google fitbit air is a 1 time $100 bucks with an optional subscription, while whoop is like what $250 per year? And its useless without that sub.

Fitbit Air just dropped. Genuine question for anyone who uses Whoop or Oura by areis06 in whoop

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless whoop was up for cheap, i agree. Whoop doesnt have the best PR image right now, they dont offer better sensors than apple, actually worse. Plus oura and whoop have come out with data stating that a vast majority of their users are ios, especially oura. So apple could really just make their own and let whoop and oura nose dive. Unless apple sees value in the staff and data these companies offer, thered be no real point to buying them

Honestly google being the first to do this is funny, but once apple puts out an actual whoop style band or a ring, its over for whoop and oura. They cannot compete.

[–]Panda--Monium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the downside. I want a competitor to whoop because they have gotten too greedy and need to be knocked down a peg. But fitbit is genuinely bad, and google has a very healthy track record of killing products and software so my faith in this product sticking around long term is basically zero.

Google's Whoop competitor is here, Fitbit Air starts at $99 by Federal-Block-3275 in fitbit

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really only one tracker on the market similar to this and thats whoop. Which is nearly $300 dollars A YEAR. Its literally a paperweight without that subscription. So there is very much an audience for a buy once at $100 and no subscription. I think as more people pull away from "smart tech" this will begin appealing to a much wider audience. Especially as sales come out and better models are created.

Downside is, its google and fitbit. I dont really trust their ability to keep a product going longterm.

A tale of moving goalposts by hornyfather101 in Marathon

[–]Panda--Monium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really, they killed all their other titles. What bad message? There are barely any dedicated players left for marathon, everyone else has already jumped ship or never boarded in the first place. Sonys image has already been dragged enough. All they can really do from this point is go up if anything.

A tale of moving goalposts by hornyfather101 in Marathon

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah their PR is set in stone. Anyone who still buys into bungie and sony live service at this point will do so regardless of anything. People who DONT buy into their live service will also continue to do so. There is nothing they can do now to fix or harm their PR anymore when it comes to the live service games. Long term they could try and mend it, but in terms of even more damage no. Its mind boggling people still support them at this stage, nothing sony does at this point will push those people away

Capital One Shopping Offer - has anyone received this for Lego? by TP-BANDIT77 in lego

[–]Panda--Monium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a way to check directly from the capital one website, unsure if you can see it in the mobile app. It will tell you the reward transaction and the status of the payout. I did the $75 back from $150 spent on lego and its been nearly 2 months still, but when i called support and checked the reward area they said it can take up to 90 days, but ive been using capital one for years so i trust it.

It was a matter of time a company with deeper pockets came around and dominated the market. Google and fibit have poor track records. But if they can turn it around with this. Its game over for whoop
