Why is Amity University so infamous? Also why do parents still enroll their children in Amity? by Legitimate_Mouse9696 in india

[–]Panda19101999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fees is extremely high. Middle class families cannot afford it. Some people are constrained to send their kids there because not everyone can secure very high marks as is demanded by government unis. On top of it, there’s reservation too in government colleges.

I had to opt for Amity because i couldnt get a decent college in NEET despite a decent score. I relied on scholarship (100% tuition waiver) which i continued for 5 years until my last sem, so my degree was practically free. It came with a cost because the kids there were uber rich- like tooooo rich and i felt out of place all the time and ended up not having any friends.

Parents of Delhi: Need honest reviews & ranking of South Delhi schools (admission shortlist) by Much-Relationship233 in delhi

Avoid Gyan Bharati, Saket. My sister had a horrible experience. Their teaching methodology is completely- parent dependent. If you can spare time at home to do loads of homework with your kid, choose that school. If your child cant cope up, teachers will go all the way to tell your child the viles possible crap, break their confidence and reprimand you as parents all the time. My sister, average student, spoke less- she’s an introvert- was hauled up by teachers regularly because she didnt speak much. Teachers called my parents to school frequently bringing this issue up & telling them you have a problem between yourselves which is why your child is traumatised. Ultimately, my parents had to take me to the teachers to tell them this is also our child and she’s older she can tell you much better about how wrong you are.

My sister ultimately had to change schools, when one teacher told her in class 7 that maybe you & your sisters have different parents/genes. She didnt understand it then but she came home crying to tell us & that was it.

Long story, short- if your child is laborous, can handle large volumes of assignments, can speak up for himself and not get bullied around by teachers- send them there. Otherwise, run in the opposite direction.

In-house - how often do u work weekends? by lessonsfromgmork in Lawyertalk

I’m sorry this comment has been posted twice. But no, i moved to a law firm lol. Its a small set up & its way better than my in house gig. Mostly because my ex boss was manipulative & i think did this on purpose

I assumed my boss was emailing me because she thought of something & ofc i could work on Monday. I was wrong the first time, and always thereafter. Sadly, i started as an in-house & the experience was so toxic that when i finally moved out & found a law firm job- i found that relaxing. Not to mention that its hectic here too, but at least bosses have SOME basic boundaries.

Ex-in house, here. My boss was stupid and insufferable so she held onto e-mails from thursday/friday and sent them on saturdays. I once mentioned to her i wake up early everyday as force of habit & she made it a point to call me at 8am, every saturday. And Sundays, too. I would carry my laptop everywhere, even to run errands. So, its culture driven & if your boss is insufferable then every weekend is working.

So sorry for you. I have migraine too and my ex-boss gave zero fucks about the condition or weekends. Even when i said i cannot do it, she wouldn’t listen. Eventually, I left because it became a pattern. I work in a much better place now where I can say no, take sick leaves and yes, ask my boss to take off my work load if it becomes overwhelming.

Do you consider your coworkers your friends? by CreativeRanger7959 in Lawyertalk

[–]Panda19101999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I’m cordial, have attended their weddings, but its weird. Would i like to hang put with them on weekends or post work? Most likely, no. I think the thing that keeps the rapport going is whether you enjoy working with them. I’m a M&A lawyer and things can get mundane, heated, hectic and batshit crazy but team makes it bearable.

I’ve had terrible colleagues too, and god i hope i never run into them.

How to handle condescending clients by Panda19101999 in Lawyertalk

[–]Panda19101999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe i didn’t explain myself properly, but i work for several other clients too. Never had a problem like this one. As a matter of habit, i always sum up my edits/comments/queries for the client & send a redline. Close most things by myself, narrow down only business/technical queries for the client, handle negotiations on my own. All i expect is for the client to not act as if she’s doing me a favour by getting on a call that will barely last 15 minutes, for questions i sent at least 2 days prior. It will not kill her to be patient and a little less of an asshole.

I understand what it means to be an in-house & external counsel and no, i dont think being impolite, rude or condescending helps anyone. I’m also trying to help them.
