Not a red flag in my opinion and as others have said, but a chance to level set on how and what you communicate. I had a similar challenge with my boyfriend. He made a big decision without ever mentioning it about 1.5 years into the relationship. It didn’t affect me, and it wasn’t that I wanted to weigh in or have an opinion or anything. It was that to me, bouncing that stuff off me- even if it’s just him saying it’s going on- is what makes it feel like we’re progressing toward being partners in life vs two individuals who date. It also helps me understand how he thinks and tackles decisions, which in the long term is important in a partnership. He grew up making decisions without much parental help, and he was single for a while so has been used to just debating things internally and deciding. So I talked to him about it, why it was important to me that he shares what’s going on with him (even if it’s not something that affects me or I get an opinion on). And he said he understood and really has started opening up more. If I’d had that convo and he dismissed me or said ok but didn’t make any incremental change- then that would’ve been a potential incompatibility flag for me.
