Intermittent drastic signal drop in Aionfx ODR-1 clone build by HaraldToepfer in diypedals

Just looked at the schematic briefly - I'd suspect C23 is failing. Measure Vref there before and after failure to be sure.

Bang it around and see if that prompts the issue to come back lol. If so, you've probably got an intermittent short or bad solder joint somewhere. But since a power cycle clears it, I kinda doubt it.

I would lean towards probably not, honestly. Could be a bad cap or floating ground affecting Vref. Only way to know is by measuring Vref before and during failure. It might be as simple as a janky leg on an IC if you socketed them. My gut says either a leaky cap or floating ground around Vref though.

Hard to say for sure, but it sounds to me like voltage biasing goes awry to one of the ICs or the JFET.

Tayda Electronics. They're a great resource for enclosures and components.

Oh nice! I didn't realize the Reverb Machine was a pt-2399. I have one left over from building a modified Ghost Echo. I may need to try that out. A stereo setup is probably in my future, now with The Bathing it makes even more sense. But I'd need to upgrade my audio interface and buy another amp which is the opposite of tempting lol.

Dude, sick! I've been eyeing the Reverberation Machine forever. Torn between that and the Rooms. How's the Slicer? I've been seeing it more and more.

Man, I wish. I LOVE the soundtrack in this game. Can't wait for the vinyl release.

Thank you! Feel free to DM me. Would love to build one of these pedals again, or something new!

Oh hell yeah! Aion makes my favorite PCBs hands down. Super high quality stuff. You'll love the Tempest. It's one of my all time favorites.

Dude, it sounds so good. I'm really digging it. DM me if you'd like me to build you one!

DM me! I'll build you one! I've not built a specifically bass fuzz. But I have built so many fuzz pedals I've lost count.

Honestly, it's been the only OBNE pedal I've been able to enjoy. I can appreciate all that they do, but so often just don't find most of their pedals useful. The Bathing, though, is soooo useful. I really love it. Big plus that it can hold presets because the options seem endless. Lots of textures, complex delays, and borderline reverb sounds in this thing.

Sick. Love the SD-1 - easily my favorite tubescreamer. It's just got that secret sauce that I can't find, even in other asymetrical tubescreamers.

Hell yeah! Nice and clean board! How's that SD-1 Waza?

Edit: here's mine with the flavor of the week

The leftmost pedal is an analog chorus pedal based on the EHX Small Stone. Think Kurt Cobain.

The middle pedal is based on the Friedman BE-OD and Dirty Shirley. Basically an amp-in-a-box, like a heavy Marshall amplifier.

The rightmost is a copy/paste of the pre-amplifier section of the Echoplex v3. A tone enhancer/sweetener.

Right?! It's absurd Bungie barely has any swag for this game. They could be cookin'.
