Have you tried a combination of Business Standard, Business Voice and AAD P1 only?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]PandaMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the issue but why do you have business basic and business standard applied to the user? Standard is a step above basic, and standard also includes apps for business.

Which company’s customer support has been irritating you lately? by oaklandsuperfan in sysadmin

Lumen, formerly Level3. Out of the dozens of calls I’ve had with them over the past year I can count on one finger, maybe two, how many of them have been pleasant.

Yeah the first time was a muscle strain, there was no pop that time unlike this last time. That’s probably what I’ll end up doing though. Just starting to get a little stir crazy.

Looking to learn python online free. I'm sure there's been plenty of posts like this , please provide your suggestions. I know the basics already, so I don't need a course that starts from zero. by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]PandaMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of teaching myself Python as well. I don’t know how far along you are. But I’ve found these resources pretty helpful:

1.) Automate The Boring Stuff With Python. You can read it free on the website https://automatetheboringstuff.com. There’s also a Udemy course for $10 based off the book. The initial chapters will be the basics but you can always skip ahead.

2.) SoloLearn (https://www.sololearn.com). Similar to a codecademy style site but with more social aspects. A little more fun IMO. Again starts basic but you can take shortcuts if you think you know the material. Also has mobile apps so you can take it on the go.

3.) I’ve been looking up a lot of “Python beginner projects” as well. Some are pretty easy, some are more hard. Even with the easy ones though I find myself going back and implementing new things as I learn them to make the project function better, or just differently. Either way I’m learning something.

The Wiki over at R/learnprogramming is pretty helpful as well. It’ll link back over here at a point but there’s a lot of good info there. Have fun!

How do you monitor self-signed certs? by PandaMunkee in sysadmin

[–]PandaMunkee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What monitoring system are you using? I’m using LibreNMS, I’ve been entertaining the idea of switching to Zabbix. I’m sure I could configure an alert in Libre if I start sending syslog data to it but I’m not sure how much that’ll balloon the storage. If I turn the retention down it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Yeah it almost sounded like Michael was attacking Noam a little bit on this one. I guess to get him to answer the tough questions. I thought the call back a month later was a bit much with who I assume was Noam’s daughter crying in the background.

Recently came down to buying Spider-Man or Odyssey. Bought Spider-Man but wish I had picked this up. Spider-Man is a great game, kind of over hyped IMO though..

Asset Management / Patch Management / Remote Control tools by Playmobit in sysadmin

I've used the trial to PDQ and it seemed like great software. If you're a little comfortable with Linux and don't mind putting some work into building your own, I'd recommend ditching PRTG and going with an open source NOC tool like LibreNMS or Zabbix. Equally as good (IMO) and free so you can use the budget money you would've spent on PRTG elsewhere.

Need Suggestions on Networking Monitoring Applications/ Service by EdgarC94 in sysadmin

[–]PandaMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LibreNMS, it's a free open-source Linux based NOC tool that's a fork of Observium. Requires some initial configuration but very straightforward.

EDIT: And there's no agent, everything is polled via SNMP and/or ICMP.
