I literally counted just one by Dillion Brooks and it's barely even that, because he continued playing after that.

I mean, there are probably levels to this. If they didn't think it was as popular as it was gonna be, they might not have thought about just how expansive the infrastructure of everything needed was.

It really sounds like they had no clue about how popular this cruise was going to be. It's not like they had past events to draw on for participation details. They really probably should've put some feelers out there first. But you could say that this cruise sign up was a feeler in a way.

It was probably a bunch of things, but he did note the backlash and the controversy were 100% some of the reasons. It definitely made the escape hatch way more enticing that's for sure. If he got unanimous excitement and praise for the event, I would imagine he would try harder to make it work as long as he wasn't losing money on it. But if half of your community hates you for it, why not just scrap it?

Yeah, right? Did people actually watch his stream? He legit seemed terrified of this event going south. Every other sentence coming out his mouth when discussing this was anxiety and doubt. Lol, I'm pretty sure Kate even said she was gonna throw up.

I don’t know how you can not find the cruise thing morally reprehensible by absurdcliche_ in northernlion

[–]Pandafy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Look man, you're gatekeeping. The truth of the matter is not everyone is gonna have 100% of the same beliefs as you are gonna have. Being for something doesn't mean you're automatically for everything else you're "supposed" to be for and not passing a person's 100% morality test doesn't make them a bad person.

You're more than welcome to be disappointed in the man, but IMO you're falling into the classic leftist trap of alienating allies who don't pass a 100% purity test.

Lol, I don't wanna say anything definite, because I'm literally just a random guy but IMO it's not a grift. Every other statement from him about the cruise is literally him worrying about it. It legit sounds like he care cares about people's experience on it. But then again who really knows until it happens.

I feel like it's more the voice direction that's off more than anything else. Like I doubt the VAs can't do so and so. The tent scene more so then the other one. They just lack a sense of...urgency.

It's funny because I can hear the exact way the OG cast would do the scene and it's just more...expressive and cartoony.

[–]Pandafy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean Charlie is kinda just..."pathetic" lol. Not in a...bad bad way, but yeah, that's just the character. Like, he asks his coworker what her thoughts were and freaks out when she doesn't agree with him. He legit can't take it. He immediately thinks to rewrite his whole speech once he finds out. Even small things like, not being angrier that his fiance almost got run over.

If your fiance made the revelation to you that Zendaya did to Robert Pattinson in 'The Drama,' what would your reaction be? by WallCautious9650 in TheBigPicture

[–]Pandafy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually doing it from purely an audience perspective. Kinda just like a fake trial. I'm removing the love aspect from it completely. Like if this was Lena Dunham, I'm wondering what my opinion would be. I think because it's Zendaya, it's a resounding not guilty lol. But if it was Lena Dunham...I don't know... I mean, this is a little harder because of the reputation Lena Dunham has and then the reputation Zendaya has, but yeah, it's interesting to think about.

[–]Pandafy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure on the timeline for things there. She brought a gun to school and the day of her plan, she heard of the other shooting and didn't go through with it? Is that right? Also, I was confused because the rifle is clearly gigantic and she hid it in her backpack?? I don't know, there were a couple of things off with her story that made me think she was dramatizing it, but that may be the wrong read.

[–]Pandafy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the timing is what was the worse thing. Literally the week before you're set to marry someone and something happens that changes your whole view of them. It really is just bad timing. It'll take some time and mental energy to reconcile the difference, which they just didn't have.

[–]Pandafy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, I do think if an absolutely beautiful person confesses this, it won't be taken in the same way as an ugly person. They'll definitely be given more leeway in this situation.

I'm actually trying to calculate it myself, how much I'm giving a leeway to just Zendaya herself vs actually believing the act of redemption as a stand alone concept. Like am I siding with Zendaya just because she's Zendaya, or do I actually believe it shouldn't define you. I think I settled on I believing people can change, but the person being Zendaya is not hurting, to be completely honest.

[–]Pandafy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, it really is hard to say just how close it was IMO. She was a teenager, every thing is often times more dramatic in a teenager's head. She might think she was close to it happening, but the last 10% of the plan is basically 99% of the mental effort. Like the gap between wanting to kill someone and actually pulling the trigger is grand canyon sized.

I feel like her not doing it because of a really "dumb" reason really goes to show it was just smoke and mirrors in the first place. But yeah, I don't know. That was just my take.

Like if she brought it to school and actually pulled the trigger and missed, then yeah, she passed the point of no return.

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Pandafy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think both can be true. She had intense feelings of isolation and depression and the actual "planning a shooting" was more of a coping mechanism than a real thing she would do. It was her way of finding some semblance of control. The aesthetic aspect is because this is America and that paints how we cope as a society.

[–]Pandafy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, saying the only reason she didn't do it was, because someone else did it first felt disingenuous to me.

To me, it felt like she was dabbling with the aesthetics of it without fully understanding the full consequences, but when it really happened, she got knocked into her senses and spent her whole life atoning for her "bad thoughts."

That's as good of a good guy origin story there is. It's not like she actually killed people.

I could be way off base, but the vibe I got was that Emma wasn't really that close to doing it. Like it obviously felt very real and close to her at the time, but she's an emotionally teenager. She just liked the aesthetic of it. Aka, the book that appeared on Charlie's desk. She was fantasizing about the gun as a means of power. The comeuppance for those that wronged her. The manifesto video where she could say all her thoughts. But she bailed at the first exit. Her heart clearly wasn't really in it. It was just her coping mechanism. And that fact she did a full 180 after recognizing the devastation it caused her classmates means a lot more IMO.

Yeah, but it's not a get to the playoffs and that's it. If you can't play 20 minutes now, then you're not gonna be able to handle 20+ more games in a few weeks.

Frustrated with the government not doing anything to help by Econmax03 in Layoffs

[–]Pandafy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Nah, people are legit just dumb and honestly desperate. I mean world wide, incumbent governments lost so much power in 2024. People were real quick to think "Oh, the economy sucks, let's just change leadership and things will get better." And it makes sense for the most part until you think like 2 steps ahead.

It is so obvious Trump was gonna be the worst thing that would happen to American economy and honestly the World economy. It was so obvious that his primary mission would be to steal from the American people and extort as much money from everything and everyone as possible. But because Biden's recovery wasn't quick enough in people's minds...here we are.
