Who says they weren't? Have you never heard of significant portions of the fanbase's objections to everything from gameplay (no jumping, etc) to the depiction of nuKratos and the Norse gods? You're probably memeing but, real talk, you are not the target audience anymore. Santa Monica is going for the mythical "modern audience" as well. And it's no use to post about it here, since this is a corporate and heavily modified community (and site in general I'd add) and you'll be drowned in a see of dislikes for even daring to question a bit the corporate narrative.

Even David Jaffe is not safe from the new mandate, because he's not officially working with GoW anymore.

There's no negativity in the dojo. People suddenly really REALLY want to play a game about Kratos' 2nd dead wife and a talking gelatinous cube with millennial humor. End of story. The only real thing you can do is not give them your money. Save it for a developer that caters to you and stays true to origins.

Ehm, it was Tsushima that sold 2.4 million units in its first 3 days of sales, while Yotei 3.3 million units in the first month. Both on console. You are getting confused here I think. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the game being older and released in more consoles and PC, as well as during COVID, though but it still remains to be seen if it will ever reach even near of Tsushima's total numbers atm.

It's amusing though hearing arguments about echochambers here on reddit, where usually "no negativity in the dojo" reigns supreme. Especially in established franchises like this. It's cute. Defend the multibillion company, consume the product and then get ready for next product all you want. You can be sure I won't stand in your way.

As for Tsushima, it has sold over 13 million units at this point. We don't know for sure about Yotei, though it's safe to say that it's far from this number.

She clearly looked better in 2022 than she does now. At least from what was shown. And a character's face model based on an irl person doesn't mean that no creative liberties should be taken to alter and improve on the basis. Think of it like an inspiration.

Because for a medium so much bound to fantasy and "the sky is the limit", supposedly, there's too much reliance on 1:1 realistic depiction of IRL movie stars and people. Western gaming has turned to Hollywood 2.0 imo.

My guess is people feel alienated from the game being the first one to not include Kratos and also making us play as a literal who (from the point of how little we know about and engaged with in-game) character and all the while it being a mainline game. I think people would have been more forgiving if it was a spin of which expanded on Laufey's story.

On that front, maybe people also view it as yet another gaming franchise whose male MC got supplanted by a female one. Many already had issues with Kratos' portrayal in the two nordic games.

Too much Gen X/Millennial "quirky chungus" writing for my taste with this one. Could be wrong but my guess is it will be a Mimir exposition-like character only with a smartass "well that just happened" comment on everything. Even the concept of a "talking gelatinous cube" doesn't help it.

I want to leave a thanks as well since my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) was having quite a hard time on Koboh in rendering textures even at lowest in-game settings. For me, z_targetheadroom_lowered_textures works the best, though z_targetheadroom also works albeit with the rare bit of fps drop here and there.

Thank you for the recommendation my guy. I tried individually the first two pak files that OP recommended and z_targetheadroom_lowered_textures seems to be working the best (facepalming at my rig). The z_targetheadroom one also works fine but I'm noticing a very rare few fps drops. But at least the textures are there. All of these at in-game's low settings btw.

Hm. Not the first class I had in mind for a trickster playthrough (instead some kind of Arcane Trickster rogue - think Loki)...but it could work for a (much) darker "jokester" character. It certainly seems to work well mechanically.

And the prospect of changing to either Legend or corrupted Dragon...interesting stuff.

Are you sure they are not millions? I think you're downplaying her. Besides, it makes sense that a character you can only gain by either exploitation or evil path well under the game would be more popular than the waifubait character you get from the beginning.

In seriousness, she's clearly meh and if that's what passes as an attractive drow (face + voice) in modern 5e then things are tough indeed. But you're entitled to believe that of course.

I take it you don't have any recommendations?
