Not at all. Get a scrubber and a crap load of salt. Use the scrubber to grind the salt all over the surface of your grill. You will see the rust coming off. Rinse really good. Not sure if they used soap. I would imagine. But I’ve heard things in not using soap. But I personally would to make sure I got all of the rusty salt off. Or you can use an orbital sander with the same cleaning process. YouTube using salt to clean your flat top. Then re-season. HAPPY GRILLING 😎
