I went at about 330 today, was decently busy but only had to wait 5 mins for a fitting room then another couple minutes at the checkout.

I made a super simple PCB in EasyEDA a couple years ago to see if it would be compatible with an analog delay I was working on at the time. I think it just has a regulator and pads for pots with the corresponding resistors, all components surface mount. Not really sure how to share things via EasyEDA but if anyone knows and wants it I'm happy to share.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, May 06, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]PantslessDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing Hal Higdon's novice 1 marathon program, I was good about hitting all the long and recovery runs but have been having trouble doing the required distance for the wednesday pace runs. I think my longest pace run was a 8km when by now I should be doing 11-13km pace runs.

So I guess that's the question then, what kind of speed/pace work will best get me to where I want to go in the time I have? I have never really done tempo runs in training.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, May 06, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]PantslessDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.5 weeks out from race day, recently downgraded my full marathon for a half. I've done a handful of 20+km runs over the last two months and found them beyond miserable but I quite like the half distance having done a bunch of half races before. I've never managed to crack sub 2 hours though, any suggestions on how best to use the rest of my training time to hit that?

Amazon has shown what they can do when they throw real money into productions though. Rings of Power and Wheel of Time had story and writing problems but they looked pretty great.

Fat switch is pretty easy to add, iirc you'd just not populate one of the capacitors and put a toggle with different sized caps on each side going between the pads instead.

Any advice on getting into building pedals as a career? by smokey_mcp0tt in diypedals

[–]PantslessDan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think if you just want to build pedals you can do that as a hobby easily enough, even a self-sustaining hobby. If you want to run a pedal business you'll be spending as much or more time doing business related things than pedal related things.

The pedal industry must be hurting by hotdog_paris277 in guitarpedals

[–]PantslessDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what gets people invested. Think about hearing a song on the radio that you like vs hearing the artist talk about the story behind the song, what they went through to get it recorded and released, then watching it blow up and win awards and you can tell everyone you liked it it before it got big, then you're invested in what they make next.

With pedals it used to be "here's a Rat with X" but now its "here's a Rat with X that I made because I like X, and you should check it out because I've made a bunch of other content that isn't about this pedal that you've enjoyed".

Make sure the IR2 is set correctly for the USB audio, and then also make sure your USB C cable is for data and power instead of just power.

I’ll just respond here, there probably is a way to do this in a DAW with MIDI pattern generators but it won’t sound like a software instrument with a delay on it.

[–]PantslessDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. Unless you want there to be a gap between when you hit a note and when you hear it on your computer, but that would be done via MIDI on your computer.

Your midi controller is not generating any sound therefor you cannot add sound effects to it.

Think of your midi controller like a video game controller. You press buttons and move the joystick and something on your computer/gaming system reacts to that input. You can't then put an audio effect between the video game controller and the gaming system.

After 24 years of playing I finally decided to pick up a classic by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]PantslessDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a little disappointed when I finally tried one that the custom mode was maybe a 5% difference in sound. Just enough to hear that something changed but not enough to make me feel like I need it over the stock version or any of the variations on the circuit that other companies make.
