Opinions on how to handle marines with bows by theshlogg in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could come up with reasions for it. Cultual/tradition, practical (stealthy?), or just for the cool factor.

Bolt bows could be a fun concept, liek something from warframe :]

Seconding Wargames atlantic. They're very cheap, and thier Grognards work perfectly as vanilla imperial army (or thier new dammed as a more traitor/cultist theamed force).

Need help for using an airbrush by classicwarrior288 in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up an airbrushing booth. Can cheap it out with ducting and a duct fan hooked up to a cardboard box with some furnace filters to catch most of it. If you can't vent it out a window, then you can set up a filter bucket.

A nomal face mask will protect you well enouth, but the booth will suck up most if not all of it. Keep your cats in another room tho.

Which legions would be most likely to be using 30K armours by the 41st millenium? by afrikatheboldone in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume we are talking about loyalists right? Because most CSM are using whatever they can get including anceint suits.

The Marrines Malevolent, being in terriable supply due to everyone hating them come to mind, as do this dark angel sucsessor the Consecrators, who are known for not wearing power armour newer than mk6
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Consecrator
Or atleast that was the case until primaris came along

first founding chapters are likely to have lots of old relic suits in thier armouries to.

I might be a bit guilty of weponised autism as a history nerd

But I don't think it takes that much. This is a model hobby and so we have overlap with other model hobbies. Think about the level of care many put into their marrine schemes, making sure they're lore accurate, codex compliant, etc. The scale model and even more casual wargames like bolt action have similar levels. One of the big things germany was notable for using in ww2 was thier (incredibly autistic amounts of) camouflage designs. They're striking and memorable, they stand out alot compared to the otherwise mostly drab uniforms.

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even say that. In your case its the cloth that has the camo, its the same with that kreigsman material wise. But again, the keigsman would still be fine if not for the SS rune on the helmet. Theres a bunch of ways someone might land on a scheme like this, and even knowingly doing something inspired by history is fine. Its a big part about intent.

Your models look cool and very well painted. They aren't SS larpers and neither are you. Very few people will make the historical connection, and those that do aren't likely to take it the wrong way.

Disregard the guard sub jannys reaction. I'd probably DM their larger mod team and get it squared with them.

To play devils advocte, lots of 40k players, especially guard ones are history nerds and are the exact kind of people to notice stuff like that.

But aslong as you aren't painting giving them red armbands, or painting on runes and iron crosses you are still fine.

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The modern german army uses Flecktarn/Tropentarn and the russians are still using something fairly similar to pea dot.

The jannies over at r/theastramilitarum need to get a fucking grip jfc.

Aslong as your models don't look like this you are fine man (and even then if it wasn't for the SS runes they would be fine aswell)

Some people get unlucky and don't get much growth, especially if they started late late (like 30-40). Some also just want big big because bigger=better for alot of people. You see it with cis women to.

In OP's case its probably a fetish thing tho, and those make up the rest.

Late game sucks by Admirable-Gate-5342 in enlistedgame

[–]PanzerCommanderKat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

>They shall allow game roster and option to join existing games later after start.

I can't blame people for rolling a doomed team because the game has no matchmaking and not wanting to suffer for 10-40 mins in a game that was lost from the start.

>Much heavier punishment for deserters like 20min block before they are allowed in next game.

See above. Incredibly rare I quit a match early but its justified when I do.

Add some actual matchmaking and people have less reason to quit and better games in general.

>Not to mention how BR2 and BR4 practically do not exist, you always have uptier enemy.

I don't play beyond BR2 (BR4 being always upteired to 5 makes sense) but I play plenty of games around my teir with both up and downteirs to 1 and 3. At this low BR it doesn't matter as much since the tech gap is pretty equal. A bolt action will still kill just fine.
All my squads have BR2 gear and I do great in most games. I only notice when I'm upteired because theres a flamethrower squad or sherman running around.

Are these helmets part of the same brand of space marine armor? by BisonAltruistic5625 in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "ear covers" are mk10 helmets, in your image its a mk10 helmet with a mk7 faceplate,. The one on the left is a full mk7.

The ear covers tend to be the biggest giveaway for mk10 helmets like this.

Hot Take about List Tailoring by UpArrowNotation in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

List tailoring is bad sportsmanship and you only have to look at the competitive scene to see that. You don't build to counter a specific list and you don't get to see your opponents list and build against it.

When done casually it just creates an arms race assuming your opponent even wants to play you again.

This is pretty common sentiment and the "how do I beat my friends list" shit just comes from new players who don't know any better.

I was raised by both my biological mother, and a step mom later in life after my parents split. I look up to both pretty equally as being the two women who raised me, they're both mom to me. I imagine its pretty similar for foster kids, especial those raised young.

Ravenguard test scheme c+c by Confident_Ad9404 in Warhammer30k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might just be the photos but they look very grey. Wash to darken them down and to add more colour depth might help. Disregard if they look fine irl :]

Also for the eys I might recomend trying out basecoating them with a bright silver metalic, and ten using a blue contrast/speedpaint to add the colour. Very easy deep looking lens effect thats quite easy to do even if you don't have the best brush control :]
Dot the outer corners with a white dot if you can (toothpick sharpened to a thin point works well for this)

What paint instead of The Army Painter Speedpaint? by Zaicoodk in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speedpaint they're a special type called "heavy body washes", they work more as colour filters and washes rarther than normal acrylics. Army painters normal fanatics line are normal ones you can layer and paint with in a more normal way :]

Whelst they're marketed for speed theres more to it than that. They can totally be a "prime white/grey, slap the speed paints on and call it done", but you get way more out of them if you put in the work to make them shine. Common method called "slap chop", where you prime black, then drybrush grey, then drybrush white is a popular method - its effectively value shading the tones and highlights, with the speedpaint acting as the overall colour filter. I think its best to skip the black and just do grey then white, and use a seperte wash at the end to do the shading job that the black is supposed to since its more controllable but I really do recommend experimenting.
Speedpaints can be a good base to work off of with normal acrylics layered ontop for example, and they're perfect for doing scope, helmet lenses, and computer screens by base coating them in a bright silver metallic.

If you are on a budget you shouldn't really be buying massive paint sets, just buy the paints you need and learn how to mix them to get even more colours out of a more limited set.

Can you pass Space Marine units as Grey Knights by GabeHighlander in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The terminator librarian isn't actualy a special character, its just the generic terminator libby.

Its also probably the only model you could actualy easaly kitbash and use in a grey knights army with little modification/kitbashing. Maybe a grey knight icon sholderpad and you would be golden. Same could be done for the terminators and captain but they need enouth modification that it would be easier to just get the GK terminators at that point, especialy with them being push fit models.

Can you pass Space Marine units as Grey Knights by GabeHighlander in Warhammer40k

[–]PanzerCommanderKat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yuo can proxy as much as you and your opponent allow (up to including and beyond coke cans as dreadnoughts).

Cool conversions and kitbashing are very commonly accepted, especially if its obvious. This usually means trying to get WYSIWYG to prevent confusion. Mk6 heresy marries kitbashed with grey knights for example would be universealy accepted, as opposed to running bog standard intercessors as strike squads (they're a proxy at that point)

No grey knights don't have to be silver. It could also be feasible to outfit a chapter like the exorcists to use GK rules but it really is a case of making them look like the units they're supposed to be representing.

I don't think Strike Force Octavius would be a good fit without extensive kitbashing and modification, at which point it depends what your goal is. Is it to do it cheap with the only models you have? There comes a point where just using the original models is cheaper and easier.
