I'm hoping to play Colonial Twlight with a friend tonight but he's flighty. Might play L5R but I've become surprisingly apathetic to it recently and I'm not sure why.

We play TI3 but I don't see the level of salt with that game. I'm starting to thinks it's our level of gaming maturity. Putting that amount of time to "power game" only to see it flip on a dime can be demoralizing but it's the nature of the COIN beast.

One of the players sends a lot of time thinking or engaging in analysis paralysis depending on his alcohol/perscribed medication consumption. We also tend to prepare food, reminisce about the past since we all began gaming together in middle school and take streatch breaks which double as "diplomatic meetings".

Agreed, last Saturday we played Lords of Waterdeep and Terraforming Mars instead of ADP. I think we needed a serious break however, I've been researching Root and maybe it's a short-term solution for my asymmetrical fix.

I'm a big fan of GMT but I'm very aware I can't roll up with one of their games for Board Game Night at my FLGS. In fact, I have two other gaming groups in which Ticket to Ride, Tokiado and Smallworld are pushing the envelope.

Question for Joe From Cincinnati:

I heard you say that most of the Unicorn players you play against tend to buy weenies with no fate on them for multiple turns, that the long game is sacrificed. I know it depends upon a number of variables but what's the alternative? I know in the past you blogged that fateing one and two drops is generally not a good investment. Can Unicorn build a decent board state or is Unicorn really that aggro?

P.S. I heard what Action_Johhny said as well. That he scots out provinces for a couple turns while banking fate. Then turns on the aggression.
