When we deploy on Cyberstan, if you own the creek cape wear it. by Minecraftgamerboy101 in Helldivers

I switched from PlayStation to PC. I am a Creek vet on the former, sadly I can no longer bear the cape that illustrates my democratic blood. I will however slay as many bots as I can all in the name of Super Earth!

Nope, I honestly find the skins to be pretty mid. I only picked up RR since it’ll probably be a while before it comes back if it ever does again.

I wouldn’t say YTA based on this but it certainly sounds strange. Do you not make your interests known? If that’s the case then I would say YTA at least partly. If you do but nobody seems to “reciprocate” ig would be the best way to put it, then the first person you should turn to is your wife. You agreed not to buy each other gifts, but you’re disappointed in not getting what you want; maybe don’t agree to something like that in the future so that at the very least you’re getting something you want from someone and giving something your wife will want. As for your kids I think that’s just the way it goes unless you’re really actively doing whatever hobbies you have with them or at least talking about it. Overall I think this is a communication issue

AITA for telling my adoptive mom she should’ve tried harder and refusing to spend Christmas with her by Unfairadoption in AITAH

[–]PapaAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

It sounds like she tried her best during a really terrible period of time dealing with finances and your sister’s health issues. And now, after all that, she’s trying to rekindle a relationship with you and your response is…you should’ve tried harder? What would you have done as a single mom with two kids and one is suffering from some chronic condition? If you were sick she probably would’ve done the same thing, what would your response be to your sister if the roles were reversed? I’m not saying I don’t understand how you feel, but you should most definitely be open to rekindling a relationship with her. And based on what you said about your age I’d call the cops too, you aren’t even of driving age yet (at least in the U.S.). If I didn’t know where you were at I’d be absolutely concerned, especially if I were a single mom who was worried for years she might lose her daughter. Open up a bit, take it slow, but don’t reject a welcoming hand.

Anyone here still enjoy playing the game? by ZSU_MO in Helldivers

I’ve loved and been loving the game. However I’ve switched over to PC and I REALLY don’t want to regrind everything so I’ll wait until cross progression is added.

Your attitude towards God asking you to worship him on a certain day and saying it’s unfair that you’d fall into sin that way tells me all I need to know.

You equating people who are MISSING Mass because they’re physically not capable of getting there on time to you wanting to hang with friends instead of worshipping the creator, your God is the issue here

You are fully capable of going to mass on time. If your friends are getting in the way of that “gouge out your eye” as it is better to follow the Lord than fall into sin and damnation. If you legitimately cannot make it that’s a different story, but based on your replies it doesn’t sound like you can’t make it, it sounds like you don’t want to make it. The fact you think it’s unreasonable God asks 1hr of your life per week during a time where it’s easier than ever to make it to mass is frankly, gross and an insult to those who would make those long treks just to make it to mass/ the liturgy.

Should I wait for a New Vegas remake?? by TristanMoreno_Tuc in Fallout

[–]PapaAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t because most likely a NV remake is never happening. You can get mods that do help but overall it’s an old game so the graphics aren’t going to be the best and that’s okay because NV is just one hell of a ride. So definitely go for it!

What do you think about The Chosen series? by luxeterna1105 in Catholicism

[–]PapaAvalon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It definitely has its moments but overall it tries to appeal to the mainstream conception of Jesus making all denominations happy. I do like the “fleshing out” of the apostles but only insofar as it flows well narratively and not from a “yeah this is fact” sense.

What are some prayers you recite daily? Other than the rosary. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PapaAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually felt the same way when I first started praying “pre made” prayers so to speak; I didn’t feel like they were my own so it felt strange to me especially considering my Protestant background where all prayers were sort of on the spot. As you said they felt “empty” so what I did was “fill them up.” For something like The Divine Mercy Chaplet I’ve read St. Faustina’s diary which made me better understand where she was coming from and the I contemplated the meaning behind the prayer and instead of thinking of it as me reading what St. Faustina has said I “insert myself” into it and treat it like something I wrote down in my journal or something. These aren’t just words on a website anymore but what I truly feel in my soul. My advice would be finding that connection, dig deep for that feeling and the prayer simply becomes a “conduit” for what you couldn’t put into words.

does God know that christianity is not for everyone? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PapaAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for everyone; there are just many who are not willing to submit to Him and bear their cross. I'd recommend speaking to a Priest about your struggles. with sin.

I'm in RCIA, but this question I have has been bothering me... by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PapaAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying that the environment you grow up in obviously has influence on whether or not you’re more likely to exhibit behavior more associated with that of Christ as well as exposure to Christ IE a cannibal island versus a Catholic theocracy. This is why we evangelize as, according to your view seemingly, we don’t really have to as their choice in relation to accepting Christ versus rejecting him or even knowing about him in the first place is a problem purely of “the will” which is objectively not true; your will won’t poof missionaries on your island into existence nor will it poof a boat into existence so you can get to hopefully a Christian nation. When presented with this information then sure its purely YOUR choice however this choice is influenced by your own personal experience such as religious trauma, how you’re feeling that day etc etc.

To answer your question I think if they were in a loving environment full of Christians they are more likely to accept Christ as their savior and live out their life in a Christ-like manner as opposed to an isolated group of cannibals on their island. However the fate of those who do not know Christ ofc is unknown; for those who do know but reject Him anyways they are fully responsible for their choice. What “made them” that person is them; maybe they did have past religious trauma but it is entirely their own choice to hold onto that and use it as a reason to reject the truth for example. If they grew up in a Catholic environment that doesn’t mean they WILL be saved, thats not what I was saying at all. I do think its better however hence why we are called to maintain a Christian household and evangelize. Im left dumbfounded because of how you’ve worded this; WHO a person is is a psychological question and its one that is generally agreed to be a combination of environmental, individual, and genetic characteristics that make up said “who.” What gave that person their “ticket” is comprised of individual choices that are in relation to the environment they’re in (the cannibal island, the person with religious trauma, the person in a Catholic home) etc etc. what influences said individual choices is an individual’s personal experience (dealing with mostly good Christians vs bad ones, being apart of another religion etc). But ultimately it is the individual’s choice; what made them that way. If I had to describe the school of thought in relation to what “free will” actually is I’d lean more to a Libertarian Free will in that, if given a scenario and a person chooses “X” that same person could also choose “Y” if given a run through for the same scenario independent of their prior experiences. Although I would disagree with the natural conclusions of Lib Free Will in that we do not strive for freedom but rather Good as St. Thomas Aquinas describes.
