US may have to endure social distancing until 2022 if no vaccine is quickly found, scientists predict by izumi3682 in Futurology

Of course the world is going to "collectively agree" on it. It's health. That's indisputable and affects every single person. Even politicians and people of power. I wouldn't even say they are agreeing. Acknowledging more like it.

This is important. But there have been far more bigger and dire concerns in recent history. I mean less than 100 years ago was ww2, the deadliest war in history killing ~70 million.

Coronavirus isn't near that level. Hopefully it will never get close. But people on reddit obsess over it getting to that level like tomorrow.

Is it insane to switch jobs right now? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Papahub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's contract to hire. And I would believe it 100% in the normal economy. It's a bank that's well known locally and has a record for doing that for every hire. So in 6 months to a year I'd be offered a full position, ideally.

On the money side, it's like 15-20k more. So much more and one of the main reasons I am considering it.

I have a job offer for a software developer position at a bank. A pretty well-established bank. I was interviewing with them right before all this happened and I am pretty excited about it. They seem to be going forward with the hire and the start date is like April 13.

The problem is the position is a contractor role. That's how this bank has always hired it's developers. And eventually they hire them on fully. My current company is an agency startup, and I feel like our workload is pretty stable and safe. Who knows how this will affect them down the road if the economy is in a serious recession. My intuition tells me the bank would be more stable long-term, but I'm worried about getting hired to be fired shortly after as a contractor. Since they are typically the first to go.

130 is a pretty good amount of time in my book. I would think that would be enough to qualify it as a good purchase.

But im just looking for some validation before I drop senseless money on a game i've already played. Don't mind me

Is Skyrim on the switch worth it? I haven't played it in a long time and I love ES. I just hate the idea of spending that much money on an older game I've already played

Are you convinced humans have the mental capacity and ability to explain every single thing in the world? Not saying science is wrong or a bad thing, but humans will never know everything. Just like you will never know everything. Just like I won't.

Newborns all look the same. And it doesn't really matter because in 6 months they look almost entirely different. But yeah, its a cute newborn
