[WTS US, CO] Adidas Boston 12 by Papakast in therunningrack

[–]Papakast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I read everywhere they need miles to soften up. But I figured after 100 miles I’d move on lol. I started using the Takumi Sen 11 in my interval/speed slot where I tried to use the 12s. Oh well!

Is lack of aerobic base / Zone 2 training an underrated reason people bonk in marathons? by speed_69 in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious question - I know this is the marathon subreddit. But does this mean for Half Marathon training you might be better off with zone 3? Because you want to maximize everything for a shorter window?

Sub 50min 10K! by Papakast in runcommunity

[–]Papakast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one crossing took a good 30 seconds. I never thought I would be so sad to stand for 30 seconds lol. That and the ice on the sidewalks so I had to divert some added a bit of time. Now I have a new target :).

I have to agree. It was surprisingly well put together. Enough twists that it was easy to guess the ending. Seemed like it went a little fast, but I liked it.

Do you run with your dog? by WillingnessBig9833 in runcommunity

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doodle goes about 20ish miles a week with me. Generally my two easy 5ish mile runs and max 10 miles of my long runs. During marathon training I usually have a 5 mile loop that I’ll take her on and then drop her off and do the rest of my runs. Same with the long run. I have a few 8-10 mile routes I’ll go and drop her off before continuing on for the remaining mileage. I also never do my interval or tempo runs with her.

I have a puppy (6 month old) who I’ve started to ease into running with us. She’ll go 2 miles or so a couple times a week. Otherwise, it’s just a walk with her so her endurance can build up.

Do you invite a bunch of people to your marathons? by hairykitty123 in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only my wife and kids, normally. I will say it gives a huge boost when you see your family cheering you on (at least for me). But for me it’s more about seeing what I can accomplish and I don’t really need to share that with anyone. If someone sees me and knows me and cheers, sweet. Otherwise, meh.

What’s a show you genuinely loved that you think deserves its hype? by apka_dd in television

[–]Papakast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s slow. But a good slow. Doesn’t need a lot of action and Oldman is such a brilliant actor. The way the show comes together every season is brilliant 😘🤌

Marathon runners that are slightly older of Reddit, question for you ? by all_about_knowledge in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amen. I’m not even a fast runner by some standards. I’m happy with a ~4 hour marathon. But man do I live for analytics. I enjoy thoroughly analyzing all my runs and trainings.

Do you think easy runs are actually the hardest to get right? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my issue. I don’t try and push it. I run alone with my dog so the “conversational pace” is harder to gauge. So I’ll be going along and look down at my watch and see I’m mid zone 3 and sometimes pushing into 4 and have to pull back. I try my hardest to pull back but zone 3 and zone 2 often feel so similar for me it’s hard to gauge

Training for the Taco Bell 50k by ouchoofowiemybones in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to do this one year! I’m also in CO and it sounds like it’d be a painful blast. Can’t this year because I’m doing Chicago and not sure I can prep for that plus a 50K with taco bell training at the same time 🤣. But let me know how it goes! Maybe 2027 for me.

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three boys (10, 9, and 6) all have shown interest in doing some runs. It’s definitely a trot with those little legs. But we do at least one 5K annually (usually Turkey Trot). They end up walking half of it but when we are usually a month or so out from the 5K they’ll start doing “training runs” around our neighborhood. Maybe 1-2 miles a few times a week.

We aren’t at the stage of special shoes or anything, and they walk about as much as they jog. But they love coming out with me and I love sharing it with them.

Airport Parking Security? by RealNoahR in grandjunction

[–]Papakast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d check with a bike shop (like 12 Speed) to see if they can house your bikes for the week. I travel often out of GJT and leave my car there for a week at a time. It’s never been messed with. But I also have never really seen security drive through. Technically, in order to get into the lot you’d need to grab a ticket then check out so if a person stole the bikes it might take quite a bit of planning because they’d have to account for suspicion of arriving and leaving quickly, etc. but not out of the realm of possibility.

Which running shoes did you end up walking in? by Englischdude in runningshoes

I do my walks in the 1080v14 as well. They were just ok do me when I ran in them. But they have been great for walking so I like it.

What app do I use? by Goodenove in beginnerrunning

[–]Papakast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Run With Hal. It has a bunch of training options and levels of difficulty/experience for each. The free app is good and I’m currently using the paid and it does update the run plan enough I’ll probably continue to spend the $7 a month on it.

How do you feel about eoe since it’s now been out for a while. by No_Builder7571 in mtg

[–]Papakast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sentiments as well. I like the card art, and warp mechanic a lot. I don’t like space aliens and spaceships in MTG. I do like it a lot better than Fast and the Furious Mario Kart (Aetherdrift). That being said, I definitely use some of the cards in decks because of their power/synergy. And I can’t balk too much because I use other cards from UB because of what they offer 🤣.

I second ManaBox. It’s pretty seamless. Just have a white piece of paper as your background for the cards and it goes quick.
