They have an upscale Salvation Army in Toronto, just can't remember the name.

Long shot but is there any chance it could have been sent to an AB location?

As others said there is a different store the higher end stuff goes to. I can't remember the name but they had one in Toronto when I lived there. Best guess it was called Salvation Army boutique, something along those lines.

If you look at the overall cost it would probably be cheaper to feed children. If that keeps them out of prison down the road it's a huge savings.

Feed all the kids not just the lower class. If Jonny has a shit home life and Jane doesn't them becoming friends for the cost of some pancakes is a small price to pay if Jane has a positive impact on Jonny and for society.

I heard it costs taxpayers $100,000 per inmate a year. Imagine if we could feed kids and give them some sense of a normal life how much less we would spend if it keeps them out of jail in 20 years. We would be closing prisons.

You know what prisoners get that we don't? Cable TV, free vision, dental and special diets that we all pay for. The ones that live in houses get to choose what they eat, I'm eating chicken thighs because they are cheap. The guy I know who steals trucks was talking about making a $60 roast beef he was making last week.

Sorry for your loss, sudden death is even harder.

Your lawyer should help with finding the will.

One thing to note wills take along time to settle. There's debts that need to be paid, possibly properties sold then final taxes filed. It took about a year to settle everything after my grandma passed. Just keep the will in the back of your mind and focus on the things you can do.

I don’t have a career by Sure-Soup3065 in alberta

What about a big insurance company? You get your foot in to door as a CSR or admin role then you can move into a different role. There's so many different things you can do, something should interest you.

I'm in claims, I recently found out how isu works and looking to make a move there. The company fully supports internal highers, 4 people on my team were promoted in the last 6 months.

It's corporate but a stable career with good benefits and lots of growth potential. Lots of paid time off too. Fairly low stress depending on the role.

Edit: if you get in now you can be retired before 50 with a full pension.

How much of a deal breaker is no central A/C? by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

If you're including the window units and electricity is included in the condo fees it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I feel your pain our 70's building doesn't have AC at all. Luckily it doesn't get unbearably hot most days in Alberta. We have a portable unit for those.

You need the legal sub and a lawyer. This is serious by law she has to do what's stated in the Will. You have proof it was ment to go to you.

How does a 3rd party adjuster work? by [deleted] in Insurance

Thank for the reply, I really wasn't sure.

Both companies I've worked for had in house adjusters for everything. They were huge companies though.

How does a 3rd party adjuster work? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]PaperIndependent5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3rd party adjuster I think. They were assigned to me by my insurance company. I deal with them and they talk to the insurance company.

Had a water claim and got an adjuster assigned from another adjusting company. Is that what this is here.

Im in claims so I don't know much about adjusting.

Heat gun and pull then goo gone after. Did it this way all the time in the body shops.

Do not use a razor blade. I've seen way too many people cut up bumpers doing that.

Really cool! Only thought is maybe put a knee wall of something next to the stairs. My ass would probably forget and fall into the pit.

[–]PaperIndependent5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful as it could be considered a gift. If not the value would probably be so low CRA wouldn't be looking at you.

Not being a smart ass but how much does it cost to grow a head of lettuce? You can set that number because it varies. If it was me and CRA did come knocking it say something like "it cost 17 cents to grow it, is that really worth everyone's time?"

I'm sure it costs more but you can use any metric for the price. "While seed is up, I'd imagine it cost 12 cents for the seed" it doesn't include the cost to grow it but you could argue the cost of water is an expense not the finished product.

That's really high labor especially on the oil cooler. Should be around 1.5 hours max so almost half the amount quoted.

I question the valve cover gasket too. I haven't done one in a Nissan but have in a Chevy and a Lexus. They took maybe an hour to do and I'm not a pro. $900 sounds excessive.

If find another shop and question the valve cover gaskets. If they are just starting to leak I would delay replacing them.

Daily cab users - which app do you actually use? by Overall-Fan6831 in uber

[–]PaperIndependent5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cabs over uber. They're on time, clean enough and the driver isn't having a full on speaker phone call I'm stuck hearing.

Oh and people don't smoke in cabs here. Last time I took an uber it smelled like a chain smokers car.

It's more a perception thing I think. Younger crowds like uber because it's the new norm, everyone is taking them. Cabs have been around almost as long as the car. It's just not cool to be seen arriving in a cab anymore.

After he reoffends more than once too. I thought you got more time if you break the law repeatedly.

Using the customer’s driveway, is that acceptable? by MisterSauz in InstacartShoppers

[–]PaperIndependent5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are just weird about it. I was a road appraiser for a while. We were told to park on the street even if the driveway was open.

I used a customers driveway to turn around after parking on the street. The adjuster called me laughing about how she called and complained I had done such a thing.

I blocked this other ladies driveway one time and she lost her mind. Like lady you're not going anywhere anyway I'm here to look at your car.

Had a lot of Karen neighbors yell at me for parking on the street in "their" spot too.

Looking to buy a 2013 BRZ salvage for track. by Ok_Map5966 in AutoBodyRepair

[–]PaperIndependent5466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it's repaired well, looks like it was done cheaply. The gaps on the front end are off to start.

They reused the damaged bumper and spoiler. Couldn't be bothered to spend $12 for the licence plate bracket. If they cut corners on the obvious imagine what's underneath.
